One eyed Jack's is my favorite place to have an intimate setting nowadays. HOB is a decent venue too.
When I was younger, it was the crystal..or Dervish to some. Shitty venue, but fun memories.

its fun, in a nostalgic sort of way.
get drunk before you go there, its a lot more ejoyable when you already have a buzz
