Ozzy/Black Sabbath are one of those legends that I'll unfortunately never be able to see. Sabbath's last tour played a bunch of US dates, none close to me. I don't think Sabbath has played New Orleans since the early 80s with Dio.

where do you live ? I've seen Sabbath 3x's including UNO Lakefront Arena in 94, and the Reunion Tour in 99 at the Compaq Center in Houston. Seen OZZY a 1/2 dozen times as the shows were good, nothing spectacular. By far the best show I attended was DIO at The Varsity in 1994 as only 100+ people were in there.

To me, the band never was the same after Ozzy left.
yep, all of their 70’s releases were fantastic, had them all on vinyl back in the day. Really loved Vol.4, especially “snowblind” and the Sabbath bloody Sabbath album....

A little off topic, but if you like Black Sabbath, you should check out the band Brown Sabbath. It's like mixing the band War with Black Sabbath. Sounds pretty damn good. Ozzie himself loves them.

Love that performance. It never ceases to blow my mind that that concert was played at the height of the flower power era. They were so far ahead of their time it’s unreal.

Love me some Sabbath. Vol IV is probably my favorite but I love the guitar tone in MoR. It sounds so different from other bands at the time and is possibly the birth of sludge/stoner metal.

My buddy and I hitchhiked from BR to Pensacola in 1975 on a rumor that Black Sabbath was playing there.
They weren’t so we turned around and hitched to New Orleans for a Black Oak Arkansas concert in City Park, crashed in Jackson Square and now have a hell of a story to tell for the rest of our lives.
The 70’s were phenomenal for music.
“The Wizard” is favorite Sabbath tune followed closely by “Fairies Wear Boots”

I think what made Master of Reality sound so unique is that both Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler detuned their instruments down, which made it sound so much heavier. It's very common now to do that, but I think they may have been one of the 1st to do it.

And I agree with you, Master of Reality is an incredible album.

Into the Void is probably my favorite Sabbath song.

Saw them at The Warehouse in New Orleans. Great show. They were surprisingly tight live.
