I waffle on them. I don’t think they suck by any means but I’ll flip flop between the yeah I get it crowd and the they are vastly overrated crowd. I do think they started to feel like they had to go the pretentious artsy route more and more though to satisfy the critics as time went on which turned them (especially Thom) annoying.

I do agree that there came a point when they got too artsy for their own good. For instance, compare the studio version of "Like Spinning Plates" with the live version. It turns out there is a breathtakingly beautiful song hidden underneath all the over-the-top processing. Thom Yorke is perfectly capable of crawling up his own arse from time to time. I think Hail to the Thief, their follow-up album to Amnesiac, was a conscious effort on their part to return to earth. There's a reason the first sound you hear on the album is a guitar being plugged in.
