I know harmonics is gonna jizz his pants upon hearing this if he hasn't already but man, this album is one of those golden standard type albums

I listened to the whole thing and it's absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The mixing is great. The backing vocals are layered perfectly and it's an overall great release. And the solos are top notch. So, whoever is interested, go give it a listen. Just type in fortress full album on YouTube.

Different strokes for different folks. I hate shite like this, mainly the vocals, but some like it. The guitar player is very talented though, I will say that.

I think the album sounds a tad OVER mixed/compressed, although listening to it streaming on youtube probably doesn't do it justice. The album also seems very chorus driven, whereas past Alter Bridge albums are more heavily focused on the instrumentals and guitar work in being creative with solos and bridges. But, considering how quickly they put this one together, it is not bad at all (I like the use of the nylons). The highlights of the album are definitely The opener and closer "Cry of Achilles" and "Fortress" (at the midway point it almost has an Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner feel to it). "Calm the Fire" sounds nothing like Alter Bridge has done, it was almost as if Myles channeled his inner Mayfield Four. All in all, solid album. I'll give it a 3.5 out of 5. Blackbird is still my favorite Alter Bridge album, though I am sure this one will grow on me. And I know.... tl;dr

I actually bought Stapp's solo album when i was about 13 or so because i liked Creed at the time. Even at that age i knew what an abortion that was. My god. I don't think i made it past the 3rd song.
