I couldn't get into them. I turn them off immediately if they come on Jam_On

I can take them in small doses. I'll go see them if they are ever around just for something to do. But I'm not going to let them ruin my day.

Back when Phish was on hiatus from '04-'09 I went through a period of seeing lower tier jam wankery bands. I saw 'em all. Literally. Also I was doing a lot of recreational chemistry at shows. Even then, Umphrey's McGee stood out as the worst. Maybe not the overall worst sounding (some random regional bands come to mind) but worst for the amount of hype they were getting at the time.

From what I've personally heard, they are playing better now than before.

Which is fairy uncommon

If only more artists would embrace the smaller venues, but I think the varsity pulls in some decent talent. As to the awful 80's cover bands and the actual country artists, the amount of money the bar makes on alcohol has to be pretty good.

I think Bowen is doing a great job but if JW and Clay Achee booked for that venue then Jesus fricking Christ the things that could be done

With all due respect, I don't think anyone could truly make the Varsity a powerhouse.

Let's face it, Baton Rouge fricking blows.

Considering who he's pulled at a small venue at the location that M&W is at I beg to differ.

He's done a great job with M&W.

Your expectations are way too high. You can't compare it to one of the largest music cities in the US

edit: , bruh

My expectations are based in reality.

The majority of bands will always pick NOLA > BR.

Even worse is that the entire state often gets skipped over. Radiohead hasn't played here since 2003. Paul McCartney hasn't played here since 2003. Phish hasn't played here since 1999.

He's saying on facebook that he just booked someone really big. Any guesses? Some of you ballers in the music industry probably have the insider info

I'll wait for the official Heady stamp of approval before I contemplate buying tickets.

here's how it will go:

1. show will be announced

2. heady will post a thread on here as soon as it's announced via social media either by the varsity or the artist/band claiming he had "inside info" and giggle like a school girl that he "outscooped" me

3. incessant bitching will commence bashing said announced band/artist

4. nola > BR will be brought up at least 11 times in said thread

5. show will sellout and everyone that attends will have a good time

lather, wash, rinse, repeat
