thats why I said it isnt a destination for national bands (local and regional, sure)... Most use it as a pay day for gas money, etc... That will never change anytime soon...

I hope they do sell out. Love The Whigs and will be coming from Nola to see them. Just saying 7/10 rock fans probably never heard of them... which is a shame.

not really, it always got the odd national bands every now and then.. Every once in a while one would get such great support they would be regulars...

Im talking clubs and not centroplex/assembly center kinda bands... BR got those in 70s/80s

as in mainstream?

well, they aren't a big american radio mainstream band

baton rouge doesn't even have a "rock" channel for radio last I checked anyways

one of the biggest reasons agents won't route their bands through BR

I saw stone temple pilots at the river center...

it was terribly promoted and poorly attended

so how does BR get back to where it once was when led zeppelin were coming to the PMAC?

I dunno know if it ever will... hell, do the big pop & country stars even tour there?

I just think most artist would target NOLA for an arena tour...

I wish the Varsity would get some big rock acts.

ie: Deftones, QOTSA, Sevendust, Pop Evil, Volbeat, etc.

Who would you want to see?

I'd also love to see Devil Makes Three, Lettuce, Flying Lotus, Trinidad James, Umphrey's, STS9, New Mastersounds, and Santigold.

I saw the shakes for free in a record store in florence last year and sat about two feet from them while a couple of kids dance on front of us. Seen them three times since in Huntsville and Florence.
