...that Siamese Dream, by the Smashing Pumpkins, is...top to bottom...the best album of all time. This is factually correct by virtue of being the opinion of the almighty PenguinNinja, so disagreement is futile. However..as it should serve to entertain me...I invite you to contest, and if you dare...tell me anything that it wrong with this amazing album that keeps it from being anything but a solid 10.

Definitely the best Smashing Pumpkins album of all time, but probably barely in the top 100 overall albums of all time.

I admire your gumption. It is excellent.

I have to go with OutKast "ATLiens"

Top 20 for sure.

Would be Top 10 if it had less filler, IMFO.

All different tastes in music for sure. Outkast would definitely be one of the greatest rap albums, but I couldn't put it close to being a top 10 album, for me. I'm not much of a rap guy though.

I wouldn't even want to do Outkast ATLiens a disservice by calling it "rap". It's hip-hop, at it's finest, and yet to be paralleled.

Amazing album.

Outkast are to "rap" what RHCP are to "alternative" or "grunge". They're thrown in that category, but they're really something else...something in a genre all their own.

Great album indeed and I can see how it can be someone's favorite. But it wouldn't break my top 50. Not bc it lacks talent, just not the sound I wanted when I 1st heard it.

Imo, Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon and Layla album by Clapton & Duane Allman are on my short list.

But in full disclosure, at 1 point, All Eyez on Me by TuPac was the end all of music...10 years ago that is. I still jam it from time to time.

I agree and I have said this since the music board's inception. It has a killer opener and a second song that is just going to be in bad arse forever. 3rd and fourth songs take the listener on a completely emotional journey. Vth song is a classic example of halftime through a masterpiece. 6th song comes at the perfect time and is that commercial wow tune. Songs 7-8 build it back up all over for an incredibly moving 9th song. The finale is perfect and strong.

This album contains all types of emotionally uplifting as well as melancholy tunes and wow the album is often considered 1 that totally makes the listener feel pure emotion in the slower tunes like Today, Disarm, and Mayonnaise; this album can also totally kick your arse with some very noisy, swirling, crunchy, hammering, and atmospheric guitar from Iha and Corgan. Chamberlain's drumming is superb; especially noteworthy is his banging and changeups in Quiet and his relentless force in the richly orchestrated Hummer.

I cannot give this album the best of all time label, But since the beginning of the 1990's and tgethe newer uptrend of alternative music, Siamese Dream Is deserving of perhaps the top album of the now 30 something's generation. I dont see any alternative (hate using that label so casually, but what can i do?) Albums that can meaure up today -- not song for song anyway. I would love to find one though. That is a day I look forward to experiencing because I would love to have a brand new connection to a piece of music that matches the way I felt about siamese dream in 1993-94.

I don't think ATLiens has any filler. I think of it as one song that was divided into 15 tracks for purposes of convenience.

I played that cd on repeat in my car for 3 months. I never skipped a song, and driving was a joy.

It's all good in the hood. A person's favorite album is determined in large part by how that album speaks to the individual person, which can be influenced/affected by various circumstances.

What's weird about ATLiens for me is that I didn't listen to the album until a couple years after it came out. I didn't start getting in to to OutKast until Aquiemini, and I loved it so much I decided to back-listen to southernplayastic and ATLiens. And ATLiens just floored me.

My 2nd favorite album ever & my 2nd favorite band ever.

Pearl Jam's Ten is the only one I rank over it.
