An older friend played me Detroit Rock City in 1977 when I was nine years old. Ace was the member that intrigued me when I heard that song and saw the album. Another lifetime ago. RIP Ace.

Saw him in the mid 90's at Kenny Key West in Metairie. He was in full Space Ace attire and jammed for 90 minutes, playing Frehleys Comet and plenty Kiss songs

That picture sent me down the hole... This is actually a decent copy of the movie. I'm about halfway through it.

One of my all time favorite bands and guitar players.

Rest in Peace!

They should bury him next to Dimebag.

Never got to see them as a kid. And I refused to see them without the original lineup.

Got to see them twice when they reunited and went on tour. Another bucket list item checked.

Ace wrote some great songs. He wouldn't sing lead for a while in Kiss, so he didn't sing the songs he wrote.

Cold Gin
Parasite
Coming Home
Strange Ways
Getaway

Then came Love Gun and he wrote and sang Shock Me which opened up his writing and lead vocals in the band. He had a song on Alive II (Rocket Ride)...then did by far the best Kiss solo album. He then followed that up with 3 songs on Dynasty and Unmasked.

I got to see reunited Kiss 4 times and it was magical for me.

Ace was one of a kind. RIP

My mom was an amateur painter when I was a small child. We wanted to be KISS one year and were looking at costumes. Mom said, no, I can do that at home. I'm thinking, oh this is like the we have McDonalds at home.

Nope, she got some makeup somewhere and painted me and three of my neighborhood friends up like KISS and it was awesome. She had a picture of us somewhere and I wish I could find it.

True story: I saw him in the Charlotte airport (last December) he was sitting at a bar drunker than Cooter Brown. He was a dick and pretty belligerent. Of course he would always get on a Eddie Trunk show and claim he was sober

Kiss was before my time, but because my parents listened to all the good music, the first song I ever learned on guitar was "Detroit Rock City"...and it was because Ace was the coolest guy on the planet. My first guitar hero. Damn.

Yea, I had heard he had continuing issues. A buddy of mine saw him in a small bar/nightclub in Joliet Illinois back in the mid 2000s, and he said that his guitar volume was turned up so loud that it was hurting people's ears. He said people at the front of the stage were actually complaining to Ace about it. He was so wasted and told the audience to "f$#k off, this is how I play". I guess shortly thereafter he just left the stage.
