Also making the list of Rock Hall ballot contenders for the first time are Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez, Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction, Electric Light Orchestra, Bad Brains, Steppenwolf and Journey. Steve Perry, Journey’s original lead singer, has quietly been a Del Mar resident in recent years, although his current whereabouts are unclear.

also could have sworn ELO was already in.

In what universe is Tupac rock n roll? The rock n roll HOF is a joke. As is Journey.

Three really good albums:

Evolution
Infinity
Departure

When Greg Rollie left in 1980/81, the band changed irrevocably. Not that they didn't have financial and chart success following Rollie's departure, but it was never the same for me....I could support a HOF induction reunion with Rollie, Perry, Schon, Valerie and Smith/Dunsbar.

Those HOF idiots also decided to finally include Yes and The Zombies on the ballot as well, what immaculate timing!

I also think it's strange Tupac is on the ballot for the Rock n' Roll HoF. I mean, the Rock n' Roll HoF is for artists who perform rock music right? Unless they're counting Tupac as an influence on modern rock which incorporates some rap/hip hop elements?

Pearl Jam is also nominated. Can't believe no one's mentioned that yet. PJ, Tupac, Journey, and maybe Yes will get in this year.

I mean, Donovan is in. So "Rock n Roll" has never really been a requirement.

Kraftwerk and Yes are the best bands nominated this year.

Donovan had plenty of music that would/should be considered rock n roll

Steppenwolf should have been in 20 years ago. Can't believe they are just now being nominated.

Just saw Pearl Jam is up too???

If they don't get in????

Has anybody EVER been banned because of a Music Board post?

I will have a Pearl Jam melt that will rival the Trump melt IF clinton wins.

Journey is about as rock n roll as my grandma's corpse.

Considering how much the Hall and Rolling Stone LOVE Pearl Jam, I reasonably predict they'll be inducted. Maybe not, but looking at the nominees they could likely headline the HOF class for marketing and ratings purposes.

True. always found it funny how they shite all over The Grammys, but Vedder has given 2 or 3 HOF induction speeches.

I agree- after GR left, Journey became nothing more than a 'pop' or singles band...

Absolute joke that both bands were not in YEARS ago yet now they are admitting rappers? Disgraceful!

Hilarious that everyone is ignoring the biggest band on the list: Depeche Mode.

They should not only get in, but be the headliner.
