I totally disagree... American Indie Rock was awesome... Brit Pop scene was good and the whole Alt. Country scene that came out of that decade was incredible...
Agree. Just because something was somewhat "mainstream" doesn't mean you have to dislike it. It was not only a great time for mainstream music, but for burgeoning acts that would influence the indie scene so many have found a strange and exclusive attachment to.

People over complicate music way too much. If it is rock music, and it came out in the 90s, it is 90s rock.
No shite. People need to get over some of their hangups.

Soundgarden - Pretty Noose/burden in my hand/blow up the outside world
STP - core and purple albums
Another poster said Seven Mary Three - Cumbersome, Hell yea
Spacehog - in the meantime - this is their only good song
Anything by Alice N Chains
Foo Fighters - ill stick around/this is a call
Plenty of awesome 90s rock I haven't mentioned. This was a good time for the beginning of alternative rock IMO

REAL 1990's, which also shows a new music is a different subject.
As for music, I'll take U2's Achtung Baby, REM's Automatic for the People, Green Day's Dookie.

2nd coming,
MEH
What does MEH mean?
Second Coming is in Fact album by Stone Roses and was in fact released in the 90's. Whether you like it or not doesn't change those facts.

I don't know. Maybe I do, maybe I don't...your post just came off as trying to take away from what most know and consider 90s music. Sounded like a bunch of rambling to make it seem like you know what real music is and everyone else listens to garbage. I can't stand people like that.
Exactly my thoughts as i read his post.

Dandy...
It's well known at the time of that record, Albarn was listening to a ot of American Indie, specifically, Pavement...
It influenced the sound of that record..

I thought he just stayed in his hotel room with withdrawals, panic attacks and dreaming of heroin.
