90's were a douchey time on a whole. Nearly all that is claimed as great comes from 1989 (owing to USA releases being delayed a bit, like Stone Roses, etc.).
Therefore, REAL 1990's, which also shows a new music is a different subject.
My vote, off the top of my head, and not going down the Blur - Oasis route?
Common People by Pulp, was a great song.
Suede had some good ones too. Extremely influential band with an amazing sound that never made it here. Inspired ALOT of bands.
I remember when Suede came out (debut album was simply titled Suede). The first song I heard was So Young. It was a BIG, BIG deal.
It was a fresh new sound, powerful, strong lyrics, brilliantly produced, and they sounded like they had been together already for ten years.
The album was strong, head to tail.
I can't find anything on utubo which gets enough views so that it loads and plays without breaking.
Look them up, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The Beautiful Ones was probably the first, and best charting single of the album.
Animal Nitrate was another big song.
There was a fourth, cannot remember it's name.
She's in Fashion, from a later album, is an interesting song.

I totally disagree... American Indie Rock was awesome... Brit Pop scene was good and the whole Alt. Country scene that came out of that decade was incredible...
Now on the surface, bands like the Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, etc. leave a lot to be desired...

People over complicate music way too much. If it is rock music, and it came out in the 90s, it is 90s rock.

I don't know. Maybe I do, maybe I don't...your post just came off as trying to take away from what most know and consider 90s music. Sounded like a bunch of rambling to make it seem like you know what real music is and everyone else listens to garbage. I can't stand people like that.

The album 2nd coming, which has the song Love Spreads, was released in 94/95 and per wiki anyway, was recorded in 92 and 94. Sounds like they did have something to do with the 90's/
I think maybe the other guy was right and you are just trying to show off you music cred.
