I mostly agree, except that I have objective evidence that Miyagi doesn't know what the frick he is talking about. I see a ton of people bringing their teenage kids to Rush concerts. When teens are not embarrassed to go see a band that their parents grew up with, that says something about the quality of the music. Rush was never a cool popular band like the Stones or U2. These teens are going to see guys in their 60s play music because they crave the virtuosic musicianship that was common in the 70s and is almost non-existent in today's popular music.

In the documentary, several musicians interviewed were amazed by their talent and lyrical intellect.

Neal was/ is considered the best drummer on the planet...

how many of us could not believe there were only 3 members playing?

They didn't lack talent or precision when they got after it

Awesome!

these guys were not your typical drugs, booze and womanizing type guys...they were serious about their music first and foremost.

hearing them speak with such humility and thoughtfulness is just so refreshingly pure

Because you say that you have seen teenagers at a Rush concert is evidence that Rush doesn't suck?

I mean teenagers could never be into shitty music, amirite?

Rush is a polarizing band. You either love them or hate them.

I couldnt' make a top 10 list but it would probably have more off Hold Your Fire & Presto than the average list.

I have the opinion that Rush sucks.

What is your deal? You're acting as if this opinion, which is shared by millions, is unheard of.

So are Kiss and Bruce Springsteen, and they both suck also.

For one, Don Henley

You are just stupid if you can't recognize that there is a large portion of the population that dislikes Rush, and that not every musician admires them.

I can acknowledge that some people don't like their music. Gee, that's really profound. It's call mankind Pal...we got all types...

Lots of people didn't like Elvis or Micheal Jackson either...arguably two of the most famous and talented singer / entertainers of all time.

Your point sucks because it adds no value to the thread or conversation.

Only a immature jerk would purposefully join in and yell "Rush sucks"...

Why did you need to do that? I see no value in an opinion stated in this manner.

And yes, there are many people who might agree with you...but most of them are wise enough to remain silent.

Didn't your mom ever teach you "If you don't have anything nice to say, remain silent"

It's called wisdom...absorb some!

And moreover, I highly doubt Don Henley thinks Rush was not a talented band. They didn't have the best vocalist like the Eagles but they played as well as any. I don't think that is really up for debate..the debate might be over their style or sound...but playing base, guitar drums and keyboard, = TALENT!

Neal Peart is considered one of the top 3 drummers ever...

Almost as profound as saying "many musicians admire them".

Sure it does.

So you prefer circle jerks. Gotcha

You also might want to take notice that I simply agreed with and added to the statement that "Rush sucks" made by another poster.
quote:

I didn't "need" to do it.

I see no value in the opinion of someone who gets so fricking butthurt over someone saying a band sucks when that band is hated by so many.
quote:

Didn't your mom ever teach you "If you don't have anything nice to say, remain silent"

I didn't realize someone would get as mad as you are.

Sorry

I also don't view what I said as something not "nice". I was taught to so the right thing. Since Rush sucks, I feel that I have somewhat of a duty to spread the word, and do all I can to prevent their music being played anywhere, ever again.

A Rushless planet is a better planet.

Strangely, these are some of my least favorite.

Some of their better stuff never got wide airplay IMO.
