No "Huey Lewis and the News" on this list?
WTF.
WTF.

Just about the time where pop music began its slow downward spiral to a place where songs lacked bridges and guitar solos were “frowned” upon by four piece rock units.

So bad. Reminds why the 80s were both awesome and terrible at the same time. Thanks God for the college chart.

Retarded hipster list is retarded
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
Power Windows - Rush
No Jacket Required - Phil Collins
Southern Accents - Tom Petty
Even Club Ninja wasn't great by BOC standards, but it's better than a lot of that list.

The thread is clearly about albums released in 1985. You're welcome to add a Huey Lewis album if you can find one released in 1985.

It's like the Prius drivers sniffing their own farts in South Park. That crap is still obscure 40 years later because it's mediocre.
quote:If it's not on that list, it wasn't worth listening to. This has been enlightening. I had no idea your taste was this bad
There are some decent albums scattered in it, but it's mostly forgettable.

"The single "Power of Love" was released in 1985 and is better on its own than all albums previously mentioned.

Obscure is not the right word to use. I appreciate it more because it’s “underground”. It’s definitely not mediocre. Another poor choice of words. The songwriting alone is far superior than Lonnie’s Mainstream list and yours.
Also, a ton of those bands have had successful tours lately.
Our music taste are very different.
I Love that list and you love Mainstream Music.

There's a lot of great records on that list... I haven't thought about this one in years, but I have it on vinyl... need to give it a spin to see if it holds up!
The Del Fuegos, Boston, Mass.

I really don't, though. I probably post about the most obscure current music of any poster on this board. I didn't say the whole list sucks, but that list absolutely ignored a lot of fantastic "mainstream" albums that are demonstrably better than all but 2 albums on that list. Saying Brothers in Arm is not in the top 100 albums that year is prime Edgelord behavior.
And you are really trying to argue that Club Ninja was a mainstream album?

Oh yeah, all those mediocre new age acts are better songwriters than Mark Knopfler and the combined members of Rush. You're literally arguing that Adam Ant is a better songwriter than Tom Petty.
