I grew up on “Return of the Living Dead” in the 80’s. I’ve seen DotD original, it’s more of a political movie than horror. That said, RotLD2 did not hold up well, very slap stick. My favorite part is the half cadaver dogs barking.
“Zombieland” is a piece to of art. It is perfect in all areas (other than Jesse Eisenberg, they could have done better). Woody Harrison makes this movie.
“World War Z” comes close, but doesn’t have the comedic relief ZL has.

28 Days Later, it is the only one that has ever made me feel actually anxious while watching it.

i'm not a big zombie movie guy. But, the first one I remember seeing was "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things".

I personally think the whole zombie fad is kind of corny. Never got into the walking dead, World War Z, and all of that. But i absolutely loved zombieland

Dawn of the Dead.
Something about zombies that run faster than Olympic track runners freak me out, even the fat ones.

Return of the Living Dead is the clear favorite if only for Linnea Quigley doing the mostly nekkid tomb dance (she had a plastic piece glued over her hoo ha to avoid the X rating).
Other then that the bit where they discover that these zombies can't be killed by destroying the brain. Clu Gallagher is hilarious there. "I hit the F*cking Brain!"
Other then that, Zombieland was good corny fun and I liked the psychological horror of the original Night of the Living Dead.
I have heard that in one of the El Santo movies he battles zombies and that would automatically be at the top of my list if I had seen it. What can beat a masked Mexican wrestler body slamming a zombie after all?

Night of the Living Dead 1968
This is THE classic. I first saw it when I was a kid and it scared the living crap out of me. Black & White, low budget, first scare is in the first two minutes.
It may pale in comparison today, but you have to realize what it was when it was released.

I liked this movie, but it took a great book and completely, totally, changed the story, only using the title. READ THE BOOK.
