Orson Welles and Angela Lansbury had great performances in LHS as well.

Love all the ones mentioned here, Hud, Luke, Butch, Sting, Nobodys Fool

But I'll throw this one out for Newman fans that haven't seen it: Somebody Up There Likes Me

I actually heard about it on this board a few years ago, so trying to pay this one forward.

At the time I had to buy an old used VHS copy because it was not in circulation over legal disputes with the production company of ROCKY, as they had bought the rights to the film and basically tried to erase it from memory because of similar tones to Stallone's boxing epic, I guess.

But about a year ago they resolved the issues and actually released a DVD version. It can be purchased on Amazon now, not sure about Netflix or other streaming sites.

It is a fantastic sports/boxing film based on Rocky Graziano, and one of Newman's best performances in his first real starring role. Highly recommend it to the MTV board.

Wow. Very Insightful. Saw it when I was 7-8 Years Old. Too Adult for me, then. Will Rediscover it . . .

The Hudsucker Proxy

(is that a "Paul Newman movie?")

Does he have to be bigger than the directors/lead for it to be his movie?

If not then it's A Long Hot Summer by a mile.
