Haha..
Just watched. Didn't realize the comedy series i recommended on pg 1 of this thread was sort of the crux of the term yacht rock.
Good documentary and I appreciated most of them being light hearted and giving credit to each other.

Christopher Cross is incredible. I’ve been a fan since childhood. It wasn’t until I got into guitar that I realized Eric Johnson played on his 1979 eponymous album.
I bust out that Christopher Cross album on vinyl every few weeks

Daryl Hall will tell you that their sound is based on Philly Soul. Kind of the opposite of Cali vibes.
Exactly they were called “blue eyed soul”.
Yacht Rock is part of a broader category that at the time was called adult contemporary or light rock

Watched this last night with the wife, and really enjoyed it.
It cracked me up when the effeminate black dude was shocked that a bunch of white dudes in Toto would do a song called Africa.

And Daryl Hall fricking HATES the term "blue-eyed soul." He goes off on people about it sometimes.
IIRC, he says it's racist (and I guess in a way he's not totally wrong, but it's always been funny to me).

Darryl Hall hates John Oates. Does he like anyone?
