X-Men First Class was great and it was probably the best Marvel movie of 2011. Days of Future Past was phenomenal and you can make won argument that it was the best Marvel movie of 2014, which is saying something. Apocalypse was definitely the weakest of the three, but it was still a quality movie. I love the work that Evans and Downey have done, but Fassbender and McAvoy is the best pairing Marvel has going right now.

As for Lilandra, the strong spec/rumors were that Jessica Chastain was going to be playing her and that the Shi'ar Empire would be in the movie and it would have a space heavy plot. Now with the reshoots it's said that most of that has been trimmed out and any scenes that would have set the franchise moving forward would be removed and that the reshoots were mainly Earth scenes and to provide closure.

How much of that is true remains to be seen. As for the screening rumors, always take those with a massive grain of salt. What I really hate about those is they really limit the pool of who they select for their screenings (mainly Los Angeles and occasionally New York). Screeners were meh towards the original cut of Justice League but loved the theatrical cut and that was a jumbled mess. Everything that's come out since has shown that Snyder's cut would have been a helluva lot better and shown a clear direction for the future of the DCEU, even if he was replaced, great seeds were planted for the forseeable future. Then the screenings happen, Justice League got meh reviews, was meh, and the box office was what it was.

I can’t either. The Avengers established a template on how to integrate multiple characters into a series of films...the XMen are prime to do that with a reboot. There’s also a ton of good material.

They won’t make individual character films. They’ll make an X-Men film and build on the characters that click with the public. Just like Fox, they’ll focus on the characters and actors that click. They won’t force feed us Cyclops just because he’s a larger character in the comics. Whoever breaks out gets the spotlight.

I dont think any of those statements are correct, but if I had to pick one, which is tough, it would be the last one. As stated in the latest trailer, no one cares, if they did, the Xfilms would port over and they likely won’t.

Secondly, those two don’t hold a candle to the previous two, so I don’t see how an Xfan can legitimately make that claim.

There are a near dozen better pairings in the MCU.

Will the Shi'ar be involved at all? Also, was that Emma Frost in the church with Jean?

The best parts of the Dark Phoenix comic arc was the Hellfire Club and the Shi'ar.

This.

And the answer is no. Fox has clearly grounded the X-Men a bit, and are doing so in the second DP movie. I don't expect any of the cosmic stuff. Which stinks.

I have liked all of the films but 3 and Apoc, but the X trailers never do it for me honestly. And this one didn't either. Looks bad.

God I hope so. The XMen was my favorite comic growing up, right behind Spiderman. And all of the films have shite all over the great characters and stories I grew up with.

I just don't understand why they would intentionally shy away from what audiences now are cleary kind of craving - The well done space stuff.

Shi'ar stuff is just too great to ignore, too. It was my favorite arc in the old cartoon series (basically my entire basis for xmen) and after that aired the show went more cosmic, too.

It had Apocalypse jumping through time and upped the Cable stuff.

You can’t flip a switch and turn the X-Men movieverse into a full out space opera. We had seven Batman feature films without a mention of an alien. Some of these superhero universes are self-contained.

If they follow the Phase one model I can see a Wolverine solo movie ala Iron Man. Especially if he should be in an Avengers 4 after credits scene. He is the most popular X man and they could use Xavier at the end like Fury was in IM.

The Marvel movies of 2011 were First Class, Thor, and CA:TFA. Thor was meh, TFA was good, and First Class was great.

14 had DOFP, Winter Soldier, and Guardians. All were great. Rank them in any order you want, but there's no real separation there. TASM2 came out as well but screw that movie.

Even if Disney wanted to, they couldn't just port these movies over. It'd be a creative clusterfrick. I'm fine with Disney starting X-Men over again, but give them their own cinematic universe. In 10 years if they want to do some big universe crossover movie with some dimension bending plot, I'd be fine with it. But don't force this universe over into the MCU. Let them have their own sandbox for awhile. I'm sure Feige has a protege who can run point on X-Men for him.

Downey and Evans are easily the best pairing in the MCU both as actors and with their characters. If you really think you can name a dozen parings better than them, then power to you.

Fassbender and McAvoy have defined their characters at this point so well that despite have predecessors who excelled in the role, they have exceeded them. They have fully embodied the Malcolm X-MLK dynamic those characters shared for decades in the comics.

I agree.

But Fox is sitting on perhaps the single best multiple decade character arc in comic history and have relegated that character to a few minutes of screen time per film. Think about that.

I can go into detail...but these are more interesting and dynamic pairings. What Fox has done is play the same note for years, occasionally masking it well. In fairness, your pairing has had a lot of screen time,so I understand your fascination. They haven’t done one film that’s excited me, though I acknowledge their strong chemistry in First Class.

Cheers though, enjoy Fox-Men. It’s over now. The (Marvel Cinematic) Universe wills it so.

i know Jackman isn't playing wolverine anymore but I would love for him to be the after credit scene with bone claws coming out after the snap revival. Maybe have a older son that becomes the new wolverine.
