The mid-2000s teen in me was awoken with that reference.

Worst nominees are Oscar bait films like Theory of Everything, Lady Bird, whatever that Alan Turing film with Cumberbatch was called, etc

I thought The Imitation Game was fantastic.

My contribution to this thread: Moonlight.

I didn't think Hacksaw Ridge was a very good movie.

Oh look at me, I like cloying "I'm a quirky Indie" movie with unbelievable characters who are just so unique and special and listen to The Shins all day while playing naked in the rain to show society what a precious snowflake they are.

Little Miss Sunshie is the Not Another Teen movie of Indies. It came about as close as you can get to being a parody of that genre. If you like being easily manipulated and insulted then that movie is for you.

If not for the amazing casting, you'd possibly have a point. But the direction and sheer talent of the cast elevate the film way above being a cookie-cutter indie film.

Get Out.
Not even close to being an Oscar worthy picture.

Agree. After hearing all the hype I was excited to see it. Laughably bad.

Lost in Translation (super boring)
Million Dollar Baby (Rocky with a girl)
Ray (let's cast a guy who can sing but have him just lip synch Ray's songs)
Goodnight and Good Luck (boring)
Babel (what a mess)
The Queen (let's watch Helen Mirren prance around as one of the most filmed figures in history)
Milk ("I hate what just happened." "Let's go protest." Repeat 8 times)
Slumdog Millionaire (oooh were edgy bc it's all Indian actors)
Up (I've never seen a film get more mileage out of an emotional MacGuffin)
127 Hours (let's watch a film about a guy whose arm gets stuck in a rock)
Midnight in Paris (I don't understand why Hollywood has a bigger hard on for Woody than he does for prepubescent Asian girls)
Beasts of the Southern Wild (what was the point of this film, exactly?)
The Theory of Everything (biopics are rarely as good as the acting performances in them--see Ray)
Spotlight (pot calling the kettle black, Hollywood?)
Moonlight (Christ, how depressing and boring)
The Post (poor man's All the President's Men)
