No. The Sand Snake episode and the one where Barristan is killed by a bunch of teenagers defending Grey Worm are definitively worse. I mean there was shite, but nothing that made me want scream "frick you" to the screen.

So they finally kill off most of what we've hated about the show in one swoop and people are pissed?

Just saying. There better no be any talk of budget restraints going forward after this gigantic, money chewing set piece for something that just annoyed us and that few care about.

Thought the battle sequence felt like a bad Starz show or a sci-fi channel movie... Not good.

The last 2 weeks have Been a bit of a letdown and I think the reason is simple. Dany simply isn't that good of a character. She's grown increasingly unlikeable and seems like a cocky douche now.

With the series focusing more around her the story will suffer. Need more Cersei.

You speak in big generalizations. I thought that battle was awesome and the repercussions from it will be huge going forward.

And the Dany and Varys exchanges to start the episode were good. I for the life of me can't understand what some of you are bitching about.

Yeah, that actually took me out of it as a book reader. Varys in the books is an implied monstrous serial child killer with completely different goals, but it points out how different Varys is portrayed in the first season compared to now. I was thinking "yeah, Dany has a good point. Hang Varys for what he's done."

It's a pretty crucial piece to Dany and Tyrion's plans that got ruined. It also establishes Euron's power and him acquiring Ceresi's "gift" (the women who murdered her daughter).

It wasn't nearly as bad of a scene as you're portraying it to be. But that's pretty par for the course with some of the "fans" around here these days.

Right like another poster said, they couldn't just let Dany run through Westeros like it was setup to do. They closed Yara's and the Sand Snakes story lines.

I liked Yara, but didnt want to see 2 episodes of a siege.

My guess is now the Tyrell's have to decommit from the siege and may get caught in a trap. Unsullied take Casterly Rock, but cant get reinforced, and cut off. From there the North can now press Dany to fight for the ultimate goal.

The Greyworm/Missandei scene set television back 1000 years.

Far from the worst episode. You people are overreacting. The only bad part was the 5 minute long sex scene and a few of the cringe lines. Everything else was ok to good.

I would say it was maybe a bottom 10 episode. Offing the sand snakes was huge. Danny Mel was pretty big too, but it was a lot of set up and teasing.

The Grey Worm/Missandei scene was so bad. I actually like their storyline, but that scene was absurdly long.

I don't think it is that miserable to say it was a bottom 10 episode. That means it is about average for the worst 1-2 episodes of each season.

It wasnt nearly the worst episode of the series. The one from season 5 where like half the episode was set in Dorne takes that title.

On a different note, it's shocking how different Varys is in the books compared to the show. I mean he's a fundamentally different character on TV.

Was it established earlier in the series that Dany was going to question his motives once they got back to Westeros?

Yes, maybe not once in Westeros, but it was established in Hardhome episode. First time Dany and Tyrion talked she told him she didn't trust the Spider due to his spying and information to Robert leading to an attempt on her life. Tyrion told her it was his belief that Varys was the reason she and her brother had survived this whole time.
