You think Superman would let a roided-out guy with a breathing mask take Gotham over from his main man, Batman? Or Wonder Woman would let a creepy arse clown terrorize a city that Batman protected?
Warners needs to get away from all that. Wipe the slate clean.

theoretically the events in BvS/MoS were way after the dark knight returns. And the rational is that metahumans appeared after these events. Sounds like hogwash to me, but it what it is.

Very few batman villain have true super powers fwiw.

No, just speculation I've heard. Look, I hope it's great just as you do. But I'll definitely be going in with lowered expectations.

IF, big IF, this is true, then this points to Producers/Executives, which has been floating around before. This is nearly a completely different creative team from MoS/BvS and SS. Right?

Come on. Speculation from who? The M/TV board? Facebook comments?

well then that's really bad because the trailers don't really look all that interesting

Why? BvS basically made its money back and SS made a tidy profit in line w/ Guardians Of The Galaxy. If people will pay to see this stuff, sounds like they are in a no lose situation.

Thank you. These panic threads have gotten pretty monotonous. "Pretty" is actually being kind.

In a week or two we'll be due for our third "Insiders have seen Justice League and its a mess!" thread. Can't. Wait.

While I liked Man of Steel, I think it was a mess and I hate that Snyder set the tone for the entire universe. BvS was a wasted opportunity. Instead of being patient and really planning this thing out, WB & DC have done nothing but panic & overreact.

Until someone has seen the finished edit, I'm filing this with the "James Wan is out as Aquaman director" and "Affleck balking on Batman" rumors.

This is a movie site repeating another site who is pulling from a comment that is buried in a YouTube movie review video about a comment from someone else who knows someone who has supposedly seen the movie. That's all that it takes for every comic and film site to report this story.

Exactly. And for what purpose? They saw what Marvel had done and was doing so why not go for a slow burn and make quality films and build the universe to make as much money as possible? It makes literally no sense. Why on Earth is SS even considered for the 3rd movie in the DCEU when you hadn't even established some of your most iconic characters (Flash, WW, etc.)? So dumb.

DCs problem is that they made Superman too powerful in the first movie and now everything is about city destruction. The scale is off and nothing can fit what they did with the first Superman. He was way more powerful than the original Superman movies or the old TV show when he fought criminals.

It was just ridiculous. Where does Batman and his villains fit into all of that. The super powers are too much. So, they are trying to find stories to make it all work and they just can't.

Scale is important. WB and DC have missed it completely.

I think that if WB was interfering in Patty Jenkins' movie, we'd have heard those rumors. We knew about Suicide Squad because reshoots require a ton of people and the word gets out. This movie is in post-production and you'd think that the "fixes" would've been ordered months ago after BvS and SS.

Gadot was one of the bright spots in BvS. I can see WB wanting to fix Superman or being nervous about Suicide Squad. But the public seemed to like Wonder Woman and Batman and wanted more of both, as is.

And they should have cast Jaimie Alexander or Alexandra Daddario as Wonder Woman. Matter of fact, if I were Jaimie Alexander, I would fire my fricking agent for not getting me that part.

Two words: Non-compete clause

Jaime Alexander is Sif in both the Marvel films and TV shows (she has appeared in Agents of SHIELD twice now as Sif).

Her contract explicitly states that as long as she plays that character she is not to appear in any movie or TV show based off of a DC Comics property.

You know who else has a similar non-compete clause in their contract?

Stephen Amell
Grant Gustin
Melissa Benoist
Brandon Routh

The list is long.

The ONE actor that has appeared in both DC and Marvel films? Ryan Reynolds, who played Hannibal King in Blade Trinity, Hal Jordan in Green Lantern, and of course Deadpool.

We've discussed this but Man Of Steel was an overreaction to Superman Returns. The complaint with SR was that it was nothing but a remake of Superman and it didn't have any action. So they ditched the entire Donner Superman for the city leveling Man of Steel. Again, it's another example of WB overreacting. They took the absolute wrong lessons from the Nolan Batman movies.

I love the storyline in Man of Steel in that Superman is how we find out we aren't alone and how it transitions in BvS to how the world would react to a superhero. That's the storyline I've been waiting for and it's in the spirit of the Nolan Batman movies. Unfortunately, everything surrounding that theme is a mess and Snyder just did a horrible job really fleshing it out.

On a side note: Superman Returns was very similar to The Force Awakens in that it was basically a remake of the original movie and it was full of nostalgia. The problem was it had terrible leads (Routh & Bosworth) who had no chemistry, half the story was on the cutting room floor (the original story had Luthor tricking Superman into leaving Earth for 5 years), and for some reason they thought giving Superman a kid was a good idea for the reboot.

Nope, nope, nope.

Captain America and Johnny Storm appeared in a DC/WB comic book movie. True story.

And plenty of other actors.

Which one did Chris Evans and/or Michael B. Jordan appear in?

Chronicle was not a DC property.

They tried that. They tried the Marvel movie method. They started slowly with their Iron Man level character, cast a smart-arse RDJ type of actor in the lead, and ended up with a shitty movie. Once Green Lantern flopped, then they turned to plan B and built their universe around Man of Steel.
