It's Frank dying and Brian Herbert bringing in Kevin J Anderson that kills the last 3 of the real books.

Oh everything past 6 has an asterisk next to it. I am glad they wrapped it up using Frank's notes in a lockbox, but the writing quality from Frank Herbert to those two guys is like going from genius level to mediocre. I'm not aware of the last 3 you're speaking of. I knew of 7A and 7B. Was there one other?

Thank god Frank got out Chapterhouse before he passed, as it actually left the series in a serious cliffhanger, but also a cliffhanger that could have been left alone and ended there.

I mean that God Emperor, Heretics and Chapterhouse are harmed by the existence of Brian letting Anderson exhume his dad's corpse and then have his way with it.

I feel bad that I was so starved for Dune material I paid for the Legends and Prequels.

"they'll get better right? Right!?"

Although with everyone on Dune. Destination: Void is ripe to hit on, and The Jesus Incident needs to be out there just to troll the hell out of Avatar.

God Emperor, Heretics, and Chapterhouse were all written by Frank...

Brian and Kevin wrote Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune.

Unless you're saying they took 4-6 and made 7, butchering it in the process?

I would think most Dune readers wouldn't consider Dune 7 to be canon. I know I sure don't.

They randomly signed some copies of Hunters of Dune apparently, and I scooped one accidentally in the BR Barnes and Noble. None of the others were signed when I saw the sigs flipping through pages in the store, so was a cool, fortuitous little find (picking up that particular book). Doesn't mean much to me other than it's really cool to have Frank Herbert's offspring sign a book continuing his legacy.

I just read that His Dark Materials is getting a proper do-over, so I'll stick with Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, since Good Omens is next.

That's exactly what I mean.

The rest of their crap had the decency to be separate from the original novels.

With the sequels they just started right up with Frank's crayon memo of "write Dune 7" plastered their shite from Legends all over it connected right to the real books.
