It's also, you know... Fiction.

Everything about it is fiction. God, as a kid we saw the final credits and were in awe...this is the baddest guy on the planet.
Bloodsport presented this movie as a true story and then gave phony facts at the end for something that never happened.
That Dux guy turned out to be a world class phony martial artists, he even duped Hollywood.
His Kumite trophy he ordered from a shop in L.A. and paid for it himself.
But this dude was on the cover of martial arts magazines. Back then nobody knew anything about martial arts really and especially the mysterious and mystical fighting styles of the far east.
You could dupe anyone. Just make shite up.
I mean the end credits of Bloodsport are so laughable now when we have MMA but people ate this shite up...the more mysterious the more real it seemed.
He fought 56 men in a row and knocked them all out to win the tournament before purchasing a trophy for himself. I mean, er, received a trophy the size of a local karate tournament for such feats of awesomeness. So, if he fought and defeated 56 men himself this would mean that the following number is FACT if he sticks by his fairy tale.
Someone did the math and if Dux fought 56 competitors in a row then due to doubling the competitors each time you add a round to a bracket and then adding 56 rounds...
The actual number of competitors in that single elimination fictional kumite is almost infinity.

From 1975 to 1980 Frank W. Dux fought 329 matches.
He retired undefeated as the World Heavy Weight
Full Contact Kumite Champion.
Mr. Dux still holds four world records:
Fastest Knockout – 3.2 seconds
Fastest Punch with a Knockout – .12 seconds
Fastest Kick with a Knockout – 72 mph
Most Consecutive Knockouts in a Single Tournament – 56

Because they didn’t want no round eye to win the tournament and he was the best chance to win.

Tong Po would kick Chong Li out of the atmosphere if they fought.
After getting destroyed at the Kumite by Chong Li, Suan Paredes moved to Thailand, grew a ponytail, and rebranded himself as Tong Po.

He knocked out Joao Gomez out twice in the same fight, so that doesn't mean 56 fighters. Sorry you don't understand your Kumite history.

It makes it better to me that he just made up some crazy shite to talk about how awesome he was. Pre-internet it was undeniable.

Frank Dux was also a valor stealer.
quote:
Contrary to his claims, Dux's military records obtained through Freedom of information show he never served overseas, he has not been given the Medal of Honor or any other award, and that in January 1978 he was referred for psychiatric evaluation after he expressed "flighty and disconnected ideas".[1][2][3] Dux states that the military sabotaged his service record to discredit him.[2] A photograph of Dux in military uniform shows service ribbons being displayed in an incorrect order, and the Medal of Honor he is wearing is the version given to members of the United States Army, rather than the Marine Corps. Questioned about the photograph in 1988, Dux told John Johnson from the Los Angeles Times he was not able to get the military to explain why he was awarded a medal from the wrong service,[2] though in later years he changed his story to say the uniform was just a Halloween costume

Same reason Daniel LaRusso wasn't DQ'ed for a kick to the head against Johnny Lawrence.

Karate Kid really botched this.
Before the tournament starts Ali tells Daniel:
"Everything above your waist is a point, your head, your sternum, your kidney, your ribs."
Then in the final fight, Johnny sweeps the leg (which is not a point) but as Daniel is falling kicks him in the head and is awarded a point.
Then Johnny punches Daniel in the face and the ref says that's a foul and Johnny isn't awarded any point.
And then of course Daniel kicks Johnny in the face and is given a point and declared the winner.
So you can kick to the face but you can't punch to the face?
I thought everything above the waist was a point?

Is this the therad where we do Bloodsport Power Ratings? The BCS computers had it as
Dux
Li
Jackson
Paco
Sumo
Monkey Man
But the eyeball test tells me that Paco would frick Jackson up and give Li a good run for his money.
