How is throwing salt in your opponent’s eyes legal? In plain view of the ref and the crowd.

Agreed. They were terrified of him. On another note, it took me years before I realized they were singing “Kumite, Kumite, Kumite” in the song during the tournament.

If they aren’t DQ-ing him for intentionally breaking an opponent’s leg to a compound fracture, beating another to a pulp and putting him in the hospital, and murdering another, then a little salt is probably a welcome sight (except to Dux’s).

Same reason Alabama never gets called for holding —-home town refs.

Bringing a foreign object in seems way worse than using excessive force, it gets to the purity of the competition. If he had won that way it would have been a travesty and sullied the honor of winning the tournament.

Tong Po deserved it.

Seriously...did anyone else never know that was Tong Po he did that to when we were growing up? I just found out recently. Looks completely different.

We saw a bunch of tournament officials besides the referee, is he going to fight 6 guys?

I don't think any combo of tournament officials is stopping him.

This freaking ref was mortified. The gold tooth stealing janitor don't care.

Tong Po would kick Chong Li out of the atmosphere if they fought.

Fun fact: Bolo Yeung nearly always plays villains but is by all accounts a hell of a guy and was BFF with both Bruce Lee and Van Damme.

Which brings up another point...why did they even have a ref?

Apparently there were no rules, the ref was useless, there was no point system, no fouls were ever called, never separated the fighters, just got in the way of the fight, allowed Chong Li to use him like a shield against JVC and let Chong Li kill a guy in the ring.

I mean, what was his purpose?

Tong Po would have gotten owned. Especially with what happened with his character as time passed. He became an easy to beat mob boss wanna be.

Chong Li,..provided ice for sonic.
