Why does Han say I'll see you in hell?

My main takeaway from this is how it was kinda fricked up of Han to say it

The guy was just trying to warn Han against the dangers of going out in the cold

Said something like "You'll freeze before you get to Luke" or whatever

and Han immediately yells at him "Then I'll see you in Hell!"

I mean, that dude had to be so confused by that reaction

Spoilers, its not the last Jedi, as long as people still have money to spend.

I never had a problem with him using that phrase in that universe, but I agree with the tone and timing of it just being way, way out of place. All I could think the first time I saw that scene was wow... that escalated quickly.

Could you imagine being some peon in the rebellion assigned to monitor who comes in and out of the gate on a fricking ice planet.

You believe in the cause. You have to believe in it immensely to be willing to stand against such odds at such an awful assignment.

You’re even lucky enough to see the great heroes of the rebellion come to your gate on a daily basis while they hide from the empire.

You idolize these figures: Luke Skywalker, the destroyer of the Death Star; Princess Leia, the symbol of freedom and leader is the rebellion; and Han Solo, the brash smuggler who laughs in the face of the empire and crime lords alike

Then finally, one of these heroes, Han Solo, asks you if Skywalker has returned from the cold. Holy shite. Han Solo is talking to YOU. You give him the bad news. He says he’s going out and you warn him of the dangers because you’ve been posted to this gate your entire career with the rebellion. His response to your warning? A vicious “Then I’ll see you in hell!!”

How defeated was that fricking dude after that?

I imagine he turned to the drink after this.

Hell he may have said frick it and have even taken part in setting up the trap in Return of the Jedi.

Oh well. Han is still a bad arse.

There was a lot of confusion about this when they were originally casting for Darth Vader.
