I thought the story was he picked cocaine over her. If you're choosing cocaine over early 80s Victoria Principal, it really is a hell of a drug.

I only saw Dynasty sparingly but from what I recall it was much more one dimensional than Dallas. Dallas worked in a lot of cultural influence from both the 80s, Texas and extreme wealth and in many ways.

It is completely bonkers that this is true. I can't believe both lasted into the 90s.

To put into perspective for me when I was rewatching, realizing it started when I was a little kid and the later seasons I was in High School

Also Dallas ran much longer, 1978-1991, 347 episodes.
Dynasty, 1981-1989, 220 episodes.

I love all the aerial drinking, assholery and the honky to keep scenes. And JR was just so epic a villain.

The Dynasty reboot actually wasn't bad. It kept the main characters, but tweaked them a bit. Blake was much younger, Crystal was now a Latina, Sammy Joe was a gay man, the Colbys were African-American, Alexis was largely comic relief, and Fallon was a bad arse with a gun. They also moved the setting from Denver to Atlanta.
