I don't think anyone who watches the show would argue that, though some clearly wanted to find him actually redeemed last season in his marriage and attempt at fidelity with Meghan.
There is something about the way that they approach their faults that makes everybody hate Pete more. Don is unapologetic, but Pete seems to go even further to the point of even thinking its his birth-right or something.

I really despise the Don Drapers of the world.
Nobody ever discusses why Betty is such a mean nasty count: it's because she gave up her dreams of being a model to raise Don's kids and be his doting wife while he pretty much openly slayed all the poon he could get his hands on.
He wants Meghan to do the same thing. His oldest son is a real head case and his daughter seems like she could be a really cool person, but Don wants nothing to do with her or his other two children.
I knew Don Draper was not capable of redemption when he abandoned his brother for the second time (first was on the train).
