Mr. Gene Hackman
My dad and I met Gene Hackman when I was 11-12 at a movie theatre in Germantown, TN the night we went to see Unforgiven. He was filming The Firm and was doing some kind of promotion or something, I can't really remember. I ended up having a dream that I was hiding in a tree and Gene Hackman shot me out of it then came and stood over me to finish me off like he was killed in Unforgiven. He's still one of my favorite actors despite the attempted murder

There are lots of actors. There are very few stars. John Wayne was a star. Clint Eastwood was a star. I'll pick them.

Mr. Gene Hackman
TCM had "Night Moves" with Hackman on last night. never heard of it but it was entertaining. with a very young Melanie Griffith playing a teenage nymphomaniac

Brad Pitt
- Troy, Oceans 11/12/13, Fight Club, A River Runs Through It, Fury, Moneyball, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Se7en… I mean cmon!
I just seem to enjoy a lot of the work he has done over his career. Probably more so to do with the fact that some of his movies are my most rewatched ones.
Some others off the top of my head that are up there are Clint Eastwood, George Clooney, Tommy Lee Jones, Leo, McConaughey, and Damon.
These guys always put in good performances in movies that you can go back to time and again.

Probably Brad Pitt for me. He's great in everything Leo is up there too. Tommy Lee Jones is another one.
Pretty similar to mine, cheers

Anthony Hopkins!
His body of work and awards earned during a truly stellar career speak for themselves, but out of all the actors I have had the privilege of working with, during a 30 plus year career in Hollywood, Tony Hopkins is the most genuine and naturally likable person I have ever met who chose Acting as a career. Don't you dare call him Anthony or Mr. Hopkins. He will have none of it. His name is Tony, and before the week is over he will be on a first name basis w/ every single member of the shooting crew. Most actors can't wait to escape the set to their trailers or where ever they can go in between setups, but you can't run Him off the set with a shitty mop. He wanders around purposely meeting and talking to seemingly everyone he can. He lets his stand in run through all of his rehearsals in his stead. He feels that he is incapable of saying his dialogue repeatedly, then delivering his lines in front of camera as though he is saying them for the first time. The guy has no secrets, and is as natural and normal in front of the camera as he is everywhere else.
Two other outstanding human beings who, in a similar vein, never met a stranger were Robin Williams and Paul Newman.

What were you doing at the end? I was a PM but wasn't happy and left after a few years in the industry.

Clint Eastwood
Yeah, if we're just saying favorite and not "best" I think I have to go with Clint as well. I'm guessing he's our John Wayne who is my dad's favorite. From westerns to comedies to dramas, I have loved almost everything he's ever done. And that's not even getting into his directing.

Maybe not my favorite, as I never have stuck to one actor other than Clint Eastwood, but not one mention of Tom Cruise.
He has consistently made solid movies for a long time. He’s quirky but damn good.

Robert Duvall
He can play understated (Godfather) or over the top (Great Santini, The Apostle)
Gus McCrae is an all time great character
His small role was a high point in Apocalypse Now
And….was very funny in Four Christmases

DiCaprio is talented , but not in the
same neighborhood as DDL.

There may be a difference between “favorite” and best. Day-Lewis probably has the most range and pure talent.
But there are others who are entertaining as character actors…David Straithairn, Malkovich, even Mark Ruffalo and Bobby Cannavale…

Peter O'Toole
Drama, comedic or action, he is awesome. Lawrence of Arabia aside, he had me won over in my youth with My Favorite Year.
Second to him for many of the same reasons is Jimmy Stewart

The topic is for favorite.
I don’t know how you could pick a best actor with so many great ones out there.
I’m gonna add these 2. I’ve always liked both their work especially together in this movie which is one of my favorite
Jim Caviezel
Guy Pearce

Ty!
Tom (& especially Ben) are overlooked so often. Some of the actors commonly named play the same person in different films. Some have no range. They are simply in very good films
