Are we not listening to fan scores now? Also he said it was a failure but nothing indicates it was.
Birds of Prey was a failure. $201 mil with the advertising money spent on it and the box office SS had can't be labelled as anything else.

The majority of Marvel fans believe it was a middle of the road MCU film. Which is no where close to "trash"

Birds of Prey made $201 million off an $82 million budget and a solid fan score on RT

Why are you choosing this hill to die on?

Also please learn the difference between trash and average

You think the studio is happy with that? You're delusional.

Maybe not but considering the fans were generally happy with it calling it a failure is just dumb

Then why are you arguing with me? I said the majority of fans considered good to average in response to someone calling trash

You also completely ignored the huge advertising costs that would need to be recouped for it to be a win.

You actually called it good. It wasn't.

CM was trash, and only earned its bank because of the tie in to End Game. Now that fans have wised up, they won't be burned again.

Eh, I think this wanting this to be true.

CM2 could make 400 million less than CM1 and still do Winter Soldier numbers. 1.13 billion is the biggest solo MCU movie other than one Iron Man and Black Panther. It has a long ways to fall before it hits average revenue for the MCU.

Put another way, if CM2 makes half as much as CM1, it's still a middle of the road MCU box office movie.

On Larson having a Youtube channel, I'm sure it is a move to build her personal brand. I doubt she really plans to abandon acting to become a Youtuber.

Youtube is a safe format for celebrities to build their personality and win fans. Pretty much all the Youtuber vlogging is a fake version of their reality, and I'm sure Larson is no different.

Also I said the majority of fans rank it in the middle of MCU films which is average.

Financially it made at least double it's money back and probably more. But I care more about what the fans think and the ones that saw it liked it. Now if there was something poor about the film it was that marketing which has nothing to do with the film itself.

You literally said it was good. Your words are right there

That should be easy for you to back up with proof then.

The movie under-performed at best. That movie would never get made if $201 mil was the expected box office.

Again, you're leaving out the advertising and marketing costs.

If you can show me the marketing costs I'll add it in.

But you also ignore my claim that the low gross total has more to do with poor marketing than the film itself as it has a strong fan score

Those numbers are never made public, but estimates are in the $70-100 mil range.

Poor marketing? It was heavily marketed. It was a dud. There's no getting around that. If it was great (something a 78% fan score doesn't indicate btw), people would have gone to see it.

It's not "Trash", but I'd argue that Thor: The Dark World is the only "Trash" movie in the MCU, and even then that's probably a stretch.

Captain Marvel is just plain forgettable. No one gives a shite. It's not re-watchable, not really. I can watch Winter Soldier, Civil War, Avengers, Infinity War, Endgame, Ragnarok, Homecoming, Iron Man 1 & 3, etc many, many times. Even Age of Ultron and Black Panther will get the occasional re-watch from me. CM just isn't worth it.

When I first saw it, I wondered if it was Larson or the directors giving her little to work with. She was good on Community, and I liked her in the United States of Tara.
Nowadays about the only time I see her emote like a human being is when Samuel L. Jackson is with her (and not just his scenes in CM). It's like she doesn't know how to human unless he's in close proximity.

Heavy marketing doesn't mean it can't be poor marketing. It's not the same thing.

John Carter had a large ad buy but it was a terrible campaign that absolutely hurt the movie at the box office.

“Birds of Prey” cost a reported $82 million to produce. Executives at rival studios put that number as closer to $100 million (due to elaborate sets and CGI) and estimate the film needs to make around $100 million domestically and $300 million globally to break even. Sources close to the production say the breakeven number is closer to $250 million

Variety Source

Due to the uneven nature of box office splits. Typically films need more domestic box office numbers to make money. Usually overseas they are lucky to get a 50/50 split of the take

Has a 78% fan score on RT and made $201 million at the box office. Not sure what you're getting at.

And yet we're hearing the sequel is axed.

Because BoP did a full 1/3 less than expected.

And got beaten out by a remade movie about a fast rodent.

If you believe RT is accurate and honest, you also believed the pre election polls in 2016.

3 isn't great either. All of the suits suddenly start busting in to pieces like they are made from Legos.

Dumb.
