No, I'm not being edgy. I'm just not letting nostalgia stain my view. I really like the Lion King and consider the third best film in the Disney Renaissance, but it is flawed. Beauty and the Beast is a perfect film.

none of these are in the top 3-5 Disney movies. The lion King is.
Yeah, the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture, and still the only one in a field of 5, is not one of the 5 greatest Disney films?

lolwut?
If you're not familiar with most of those, it just shows you're an ignoramus when it comes to animation. Great job claiming it's the greatest animated film ever without having heard of half of the actual greatest animated films ever.

Dude, you're basically arguing that Jack Daniels is the greatest whiskey of all time. It's solid go-to, but is it the greatest of all time? No. You're just showing us that you're largely ignorant to the genre and being a dick about it.

Cool. You love Beyonce to not be a snob. You love The Big Bang Theory and The Masked Singer to not be a snob. Your favorite movie ever is either Avengers: Endgame or Gone with the End, depending on whether you're looking at the adjusted for inflation list or not. You only consume the most poplar things out of a crippling fear that someone might find out you are an individual.
This is such a ridiculous position, especially in an age where monoculture is not achievable. People who watch more movies than you are not snobs. People who develop love for entertainment post-childhood and adolescence are not snobs. You gave an "lol wut" to a list filled with exclusively popular and acclaimed animated films. There was no snobbery in it. You are being a snob about whatever animation era you hold precious, which based on your opinions in this thread is Disney 1994ish-2009ish.
It is clear that not everyone considers Lion King at the top of the animation food chain, so is your premise is invalidated right there. The whole thread isn't being edgy snobs...

Look anyone who isn’t including TLK in their top 10 list is a liar, an idiot, or trolling.
And the disrespect for Shrek in this thread is inexcusable.

Be Prepared is the best villain song in the Disney catalog. Poor Unfortunate souls is up there. Shiny from Moana is very strong.
Lion King, Moana, and Beauty and the Beast are probably my three favorite soundtracks.

Not number one, but close to it. Certainly top 10

Hellfire and it isn't close. The visuals are also better.
That's a powerful piece of film, animated or not, which you can't say about Be Prepared.

Why are all of your takes so fricking miserably terrible? I love TLK. I grew up with that shite and have probably listened to the soundtrack a shite ton more than you.
But take nostalgia out of the picture and these films are arguably more enjoyable, superior, and/or have more lasting watch ability. I won’t bother ranking them.
-Hercules
-How to Train Your Dragon
-Toy Story 1&3
-Up
-Mask of the Phantasm
-Aladdin
-Iron Giant
-The Incredibles
-Ratatouille
-Emperors New Groove

Whereas Be Prepared has a nice little Nazi nod to make it seem impressive, it's the catchiness that people remember. And that's fine. Be Prepared is pop, as is the intention, as it's the typical Disney villain song. We've seen a lot of those.
Hellfire's entire sequence, from song to visuals, is an ode to the trap of evil. It's brilliant actually. It's more terrifying and more interesting. Frollo is an underrated Disney villain. Hellfire, to its credit, is not the typical villain song, it's much more than that.

Well below Beauty and the Beast.
Below Mermaid and Aladdin.
Above Hunchback and Hercules.
It's very good, but not something I'd put on to watch today.
Too much Studio Ghibli out there for Lion King to be at the top of any animation list.

You said it was Top 3-5 and you seem to be unfamiliar with Studio Ghibli.

There is something genuinely wrong with this attitude

When you boil it down, the song is about morally justifying raping and murdering a teenage girl. It’s as dark as Disney has ever gotten.

Yeah I don't get it. It's a super solid film, and it belong in the Top 20-30 animated films, but almost ANY film in that group probably has an argument for the Top 5. I can see why people might put it there. But it doesn't have universal claim to a spot without any argument.
