I still haven't seen Wall-e, Cars 2 (probably won't ever watch it), or Toy Story 3. Need to get around to that. Here is my list though:

1) Incredibles
2) Toy Story
3) Monster's Inc.
4) Toy Story 2
5) Up
6) Finding Nemo
7) Cars
8) A Bug's Life
9) Brave
10) Ratatouille

You need to watch them immediately, especially Wall-E and TS3. I know people love to hate on Cars 2, but I enjoyed it for what it was. "Subpar" Pixar movies are still better than a lot of other shite IMO.

Wall-e is cinematic perfection and Toy Story 3 is probably the greatest third film in a trilogy of all time (aside from maybe The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, but technically that's a prequel). They both mastered the "show, don't tell" rule of cinema.

I think it's in the middle tier. I think they were still trying to figure things out with A Bug's Life and Cars is thoroughly mediocre while Cars 2 is probably their only failure, and even that was at least not awful. I actually really like Ratatouille, but it, like Brave, just suffers from the sheer amount of awesome at the top of the ledger. I'd put it ahead of Toy Story 2, which is the weakest of the TS trilogy, but still in the realm of really good movie.

I think Merida is one of the very best Disney princesses, and as a father of a little girl, you have no idea how much that matters. And I found the relationship between Merida and her mother to be one of the best parent-child relationships in all of Disney. They do a great job of showing both sides, and making it a fully rounded relationship, not just a series of plot points.

I'm actually not at all a fan of the Little Mermaid, since really Ariel is a dumb bimbo who does incredibly stupid things, gets exactly what she wants in the end, and doesn't learn shite. However, the redeeming quality of this film is her father, who does change, sacrifices himself for the life of his daughter, and learns how to better treat his daughter. The parts with him in the film were just great.

This film to me was The Little Mermaid done right. Merida isn't a dumb bimbo and simply doesn't see eye-to-eye with her mother on basically everything. The witch in this doesn't seem all that bad, unlike Ursula who obviously lives in the fifth circle of hell and serves Satan. She merely wants to change her mother as her mother wants to change her. In the end both the mother and daughter do change and they both learn from their mistakes and sacrifice a lot for each other.

I really liked Brave, even if I thought Wreck-It Ralph was better. I think the film could have benefitted from some musical numbers though.

We've been through this...you're completely off on TLM. May be time to bump that thread from a few months ago.

I actually liked W-i-R better than most Pixar movies. It was that good for me. And it definitely had much more of that "Pixar-ish feel" to it than Brave IMO.

Learn Me Right at the end of the movie during credits is one of my favorite songs. Mumford and Sons wrote it and play the instruments in it. It's got a very Scottish feel too it that I love.

Am I reading this correctly? Or am I taking crazy pills.

You've got to be leaving something out like "... On Blu Ray" or "on the same day/back to back in a Pixar marathon" or "during my wedding," SOMETHING.

Nah, just haven't had the time. Plus, I've been more into japanese anime lately rather than Pixar animation.

I know you're not a fan of the genre, but does that even go to directors like Miyazaki?

Don't be coming into a thread about animated movies insulting my tastes because I like...ummm...animated movies.

No, I enjoy Spirited Away. It's just the vast majority of that genre that causes me physical pain.

To each their own. I know it isn't for everyone. People just tend to write off those movies because of the stigma that comes with watching anime.

There are great movies in that genre:

Spirited Away
Akira
Redline
Howl's Moving Castle
Evangelion
Ghost of the Fireflies
Ghost in the Shell

To each their own.

Honestly, it's kind of hard to put in to words. I acknowledge that it had amazing production values and an interesting premise, but the film just did nothing for me. I feel like it dragged on way to much and I just got to the point where I was incredibly bored, which has rarely happened to me during Pixar movies. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if was re-imagined a 10-15 minute short film that showed before a feature presentation, like La Luna before Brave.
