That's true, but he always had some sort of story or hiding the truth. Seems to me that being in an abusive relationship and being that hot would be reasons to not put up with that shite. But, I guess I've seen women put up with worse before. So, you make a good point.

Previous husband was always putting her down, Dexter never did. His job gave him plausibility on being gone and we saw in S2 them breaking up

Not sure when the jump to “bad” happens, but I felt it stopped being greatness after season 2. I thought the season with Lithgow was good though. Not sure if that was 4 or 5

Lithgow was S4. IMO one of the best seasons in TV history for a show like this.

S5/S6 are lackluster, but manageable. S7/S8 just get more and more ridiculous.

Which is the season Yvonne strahovski is in? I was always way behind on that show so I think I only really watched through season 4 since people kept saying how bad the later seasons were. I was agent Sarah Walker for life so I considered watching whatever season she was in but never got around to it. I don't know anything else she's been in since Chuck besides that, so I assume she wasn't somehow the only redeeming quality of whatever season she was in. That or maybe the season was so bad it dragged her career down with it? I guess I'm just saying the world (or maybe just me) needs more Yvonne in it.

S4 is the last season of Dexter the Serial Killer.

S5-S8 are four seasons of Dexter the Problematic Superhero, which is a very different and much less interesting show.

I'm in the minority that actually liked S7, especially if you're binging. The pace is frantic enough that you don't dwell too much on the dumber plot points or lack of a compelling villain.

The S7 finale actually set the show up for a GOAT final season, especially if they had only done 4-6 episodes. Then, and I can't stress this enough, they made the least interesting possible resolution to every conflict. It's probably the single worst time jump in television history, and one of the worst series finales ever.

This. I love 1-2. 3 is find but not as good as the first 2. I'm with you that in terms of just a stand alone season Season 4 of Dexter is arguable one of the GOATs - the amount of insane, mind-blowing, but well-placed twists is incredible.

ETA: Apparently showrunner Clyde Phillips left after season 4 and it shows. I won't spoil it but anyone who doesn't know should look up how he wanted the series to end. It is miles, miles better than what actually took place.

She's in S7 until the end if I remember correctly. The actions of her character are part of the head scratching writing that was the end of the show.

And as someone mentioned, she's in Handmaid's Tale. In fact, she's second only to Elisabeth Moss in the show.

Season 4 was the last really good season. As the series progresses Dexter goes from being so meticulous with every detail to doing crap in broad daylight by the end. Was the most disappointing turn in a series for me ever.

I quit watching half way through season 8 and keep telling myself to bite the bullet and finish it, but these threads always kill that idea.

But yeah season 4 is the last great season.

You should finish just to do it. What they did with Deb that last season sucked as well with the druggie loser angle.

Yep. John Lithgow was scary good in that season. I'd seen him mostly in comedies, which he is very good at.

That side of his acting ability should be exposed more with more edgy parts for him to play.
