captured the character IMO.

I was really impressed with how much I believed that was Min despite her looking nothing like I thought she did while reading.

I think people need to take a step back and remember things like this. Egwene sucked in the books. She’s full of herself and sniffs her own farts. I honestly hated her character until the last 3 books.

It’s going to be hilarious when Elayne shows up and people complain about wokeness because she’s a self-righteous, uppity bitch who thinks she can do things better than men despite that being exactly how she is in the books.

Full Disclaimer: I cannot stand Elayne and is by far my least favorite character. She’s an entitled brat.

This is where it is interesting looking at people reacting to the shows IMO. Book readers see that Lan has more emotional reactions while lots of show watcher only people I have seen onlinr feel that it is wooden acting and distracts from the immersion.

That's because there's a contradiction between the character written in the books and the one written for the show. The show character is still reacted to (by other characters) and reacts as if he should be the stoic character from the books. Lan should be played more like Cavill plays Geralt in The Witcher with maybe a hint of Amos from The Expanse (generally speaking, that "someone may be about to die" sense any time they enter the scene).

I've seen a bunch of complaints about the "love triangle" but really its just Perrin that gets screwed character wise. He comes off really badly between this and the dead wife.

But its not really a triangle at all. Egwene has no interest in Perrin and chooses Rand repeatedly every step of the way, including like 10 seconds after this sequence.

Only theory I've seen that makes any sense as to why they included this was to keep Faile's jealousy intact while cutting Berelain from the show. Now it will be Faile being jealous of Egwene. Still doesnt really make a ton of sense.

The problem is they did an absolute shite job of leading up to that. I get some of it is due to Amazon limiting their episodes for the season, but if that's the case then you have to go back and limit how much you are wanting to tell for the season. Just throwing shite out there mid-season and then having the characters act like it's been there all along simply doesn't work well.

Such a shame Jordan didn’t give Egwene an early death, this actress makes me hate her more than the book version ever did.

This episode proves that literally nothing will please some of you. Nothing. Even if it was a page for page reproduction they spent 500 mill on, you wouldn’t be pleased.

Just stop watching. Stop commenting.

My biggest concern is they’re going to frick up Mat. Mat should end up being a fan favorite and a must watch anytime he’s on screen.

But from what I’ve read and seen Rafe and his cabal of all female writers are much more concerned with any female character and character they can make not white, as well as any spending 60% of every episode on romance.

There are cool moments every episode, but the overall vibe is such a miss because of Rafe.

Can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something off about the show.

Seems like Perrin was just friendzoned. Some of Egwene's comments and reactions feel a little self-delusional (for lack of a better word) but that parallels how I felt for her character in the books.

Perrin being jealous of Rand because he had reunited with Egwene and he was missing his wife would make sense. That's not how their argument came across, especially with Nynaeve's insertions.

Dude relax, I’m enjoying the show for what it is.

Is it mandatory that I like all actors/actresses cast? I hate the actress playing Egwene, ban me.

She is single-handedly dropping the show a few points for me.

Agree with most all of that.

I think they could even work around where Faile and Gawyn are cut and Perrin busts outta the friendzone in season 6 or 7

I mean… I don’t want to go there as a red-blooded American male, but if I were an outsider just reading this thread without any clue of what it’s about or any context to place it within…

I would be overwhelmed by the misogyny. So much hate directed at the females.

I think this is totally fair, but also Egwene is an annoying arse character. And she doesnt even compare to Elayne.

Only by someone already looking for misogyny everywhere they go.

Even then they would have to remove the context of all the other posts bitching about the male characters as well as other aspects of the show.

The characters that have had the most focus have been the females (partially due to what stage of the story we're in, partially due to the showrunners focusing far more on the character growth of the females than the males) so naturally there's a focus there.

For example, Rand is the Dragon Reborn and they set this first season up to be a guessing game as to which of the 5 it could be, right? They've spent the whole season thus far pushing and pulling viewers into wondering about all the characters, they spent an entire episode on a Warder's death but Rand... the big reveal as Rand the Dragon Reborn? The reason for the whole show? A couple of minutes.

Context matters.
