Only really disturbing part was when they revealed what the bad guy did to that chick. Other than that I thought it was the best samurai epic since Kurosawa.

What is this? And if it's what i've heard, how is it still circulating around the interwebs? Snuff films really allowed to go around nowadays?

I've never seen it, and I never intend to. Disgusting what some people are capable of.

Yeah, I'm all for shock value so long as I have that mental fall-back that it isn't real. It makes it into an art of trying to trick the mind. But this stuff? That's just a line I'm not willing to cross. I don't need that kind of evil roaming around in my memory banks

BY FAR. When I saw this movie, I sent email out to a lot of friends telling them to watch it and trust me. Some were po'd at me for ruining their day.
But seriously must-see albeit disturbing documentary.

honestly I had to turn it off shortly after they showed her. As far as bad guys go he was pretty fricking awful. One thing I was confused about was the politics? I guess of the whole thing. I prolly won't ever finish it though so doesn't really matter I guess.

The Exorcist.

One of the most disturbing movies of all time. People were fainting and vomitting in the theaters when it originally debuted. It was a nation-wide epidemic.

FWIW-You know you're doing something right if you're pissing off the Catholics.

Very true. Not sure what you mean about the politics, though. Relative to some of Miike's other stuff, I didn't think it really was that disturbing.

I would recommend trying to finish it. The movie spends the first half setting up some incredibly epic battle scenes for the later half.

who was on what side, why no one would just kill him (after he raped and beat that guys wife for fun). I just got the feeling that there was a lot of samurai customs that I'm unaware of that would have made the movie make a little more sense.

I'm not sure if anyone has said Salo yet, but that gets my vote.

Some parts of that movie literally made me sick.

From the wiki:
quote:

The sadistic young Lord Matsudaira Naritsugu rapes and kills at will. No one can touch him because he is the former Shogun's son and current Shogun's younger brother and thus above the law

quote:

Sounds like that's probably the case. I've seen a lot of these types of movies and feel like I have a pretty decent grasp on the culture and history. I loved the movie though.

As far as who was on what side, I think I did have to go back and rewatch a little bit again to figure out who was with who outside of the 13.

Haven't seen what all of you have, but I saw a documentary on the internet about Issei Sagawa that was pretty fricked up.

Dude killed a girl in the Netherlands I believe and ate her. Due to some screwed up laws, the guy is now running around free in Japan, he has been since about a year after he committed the crime. Almost like a celebrity over there.

I hate this damned thread and its "make you read the plot of each of these movies on wiki" powers.
