Not a movie but an episode of "The Twilight Zone"
-Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.

William Shatner is recovering from a nervous breakdown and gets on a plane and sees a gremlin creature outside his window on the wing and it is damaging it .....he finally blows out the door ....they put him in a straitjacket again at the end.

Probably not as disturbing now but freaked me out when I was a kid

it was John Lithgow and I agree. Freaked me out as a kid as much as the kid who's wishes come true story.

***My bad, thought you meant the movie. Never scene the TV episode. Willian Shattner was in the TV movie Horror at 37,000 feet.

I remember that episode - It's a good life -in peakesville or plainsville - the adults around him keep saying "that all is good" "that all was ok" for everything.

That was scarier when I watched it as an adult because of the implications of that power in the undeveloped mind of a child.

Blair Witch Project legitimately creeps me out even though I know it's a fake. It's the way it's shot, the tension, and the reality of how they were pestered by the things unknown on a camping trip that make it too real for me. I am an avid camper and this has always tickled my fear spot.

But it doesn't hold a candle to the aforementioned Dear Zachary.

I was looking at some of his stuff after you wrote this (I'd never heard of him) and this one looks, well, interesting.

Also, how does the guy who made that film expect the kid it was made for to actually get through it?

Yeah I'm kind of a pussy when it comes to horror movies and I thought House of 1000 Corpses was like intentionally campy and humerous. It was so over the top weird that it played as satire IMO.

Kids is probably more disturbing in content but the movie "Gummo" will definitely make you feel weirder.

it pretty much is. it's about people living in poverty and squallor, with actors so ugly and real that you're not sure if it's documentary or fiction (until chloe svegny shows up on screen).

I found it fascinating. Recommended if you like the weird wonderful whites of west virginia, but stripped of most of its humor. I found Gummo funny, but the laughs were more uncomfortable than ironic.
