My late FIL was on the USS Mississippi. It was the last battleship to fire a broadside at another BB.

I've always wanted to see a movie done about the Johnston and other DDs at Letter.

Alexander really deserves a better movie.

Richard vs Saladin movie seems like it’d be Hollywood’s style. Set right after Kingdom of Heaven.

I guess Agincourt was covered in Henry V? 1989 movie I’ve never seen.

The Persian War was kind of covered by 300 but a Peloponnesian War could be good. Would probably have to be simplified to a basic Athens v Sparta contest but like someone said, Thucydides left the script.

The White Queen miniseries

I did enjoy this. The entire War of the Roses is too much for a movie but it’d make a great miniseries. There is ample drama and bloody battles. And no, GOT doesn’t count.

Cortez conquering the Aztec empire would be an amazing GoT style series.

Definitely - ditto Pizarro and the Inca.

The conquistadors in general would be absolutely killer if done right on the screen. It's probably the closest analogy to what an alien invasion would look like in human history.

You could do a long series for like GoT and cover 1492 to 1580 or so (up to the Iberian Union period). Columbus, Cortez, Pizarro, Ponce de Leon, de Soto, de Gama, Magellan, and so forth. That fifty year or so period from 1492 on is amazing.

The Battle of Vienna took place on Sept. 12 1683.

Vienna is being besieged by Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa Pasha with 140,000 allied troops of the Ottoman Empire, ruled by Mehmed IV. Vienna is holding out with 11,000 troops and near 5000 volunteers.

The night of Sept 11 1683 a war meeting takes place with the allied relive force of John III Sobieski (Poland), Charles of Lorraine (Habsburg Army), the Holy Roman Empire was the middle force. All the armies held mass the night of Sept 11, with the Habsburg attacking along the river road towards Vienna early on Sept 12.The battle starts at 4am when the Vizier engages the Holy Roman Empire troops in the middle of the line.

Jan and the Pole have the longest march and come very late to the battle and charge down the mountain towards the Ottoman army at 4pm, once the charge had start everyone knew the battle was over. Jan has 30,000 mounted soldiers that slammed into the Ottoman's line and camp, the rout was on.

The winged hussars, google their actual armor it’s crazy. Also the relieving force was made up of Protestants and Catholics I believe, who at the time were obviously not on the best of terms.
