I really think a rebellion of one of the smaller eastern euorpean countries agaisnt he ottomans would be epic. The ottomans were like the evil empries from a fantasy movie. genocide, mass rape, then work in field or sex slavery. They made many male slaves eunuchs( black, white). The sultans had absolute power.

It would be like Turn or brave heart.

I've always wanted a true biopic of Vlad the Impaler in the style of Braveheart. He was brutal but he did what was necessary to protect his people from the advanced Ottomans. Leave out the Dracula stuff and his story is still pretty interesting.

The Battle of Palmito Ranch is considered by some criteria as the final battle of the American Civil War. It was fought May 12 and 13, 1865, on the banks of the Rio Grande east of Brownsville, Texas and a few miles from the seaport of Los Brazos de Santiago. Since the Confederacy had ceased to exist, it is also argued that this battle should be classified as a postwar action.

Union and Confederate forces in southern Texas had been observing an unofficial truce since the beginning of 1865. But Union Colonel Theodore H. Barrett, newly assigned to command an all-black unit, and never having been in combat, ordered an attack on a Confederate camp near Fort Brown for unknown reasons. The Union attackers captured a few prisoners, but the following day the attack was repulsed near Palmito Ranch by Colonel John Salmon Ford, and the battle resulted in a Union defeat. Union forces were surprised by artillery, said to have been supplied by the French Army occupying the nearby Mexican town of Matamoros.

Casualty estimates are not dependable, but Union Private John J. Williams of the 34th Indiana Infantry Regiment is believed to have been the last man killed in this engagement. He could then arguably be reckoned as the last man killed in the war.

I would like to see a good series about the IRA in the 70s and 80s.

I love Naval battles - of which there is a dearth in movies.

Battle of Salamis

It was the major Naval battle concurrent with the Battle of Thermopylae.

Like the Battles of Marathon and Thermopylae, Salamis has gained something of a 'legendary' status (unlike, for instance, the more decisive Battle of Plataea), perhaps because of the desperate circumstances and the unlikely odds.

A significant number of historians have stated that Salamis is one of the most significant battles in human history.

In a more extreme form of this argument, some historians argue that if the Greeks had lost at Salamis, the ensuing conquest of Greece by the Persians would have effectively stifled the growth of Western Civilization as we know it. This view is based on the premise that much of modern Western society, such as philosophy, science, personal freedom and democracy are rooted in the legacy of Ancient Greece.

Thus, this school of thought argues that, given the domination of much of modern history by Western Civilization, Persian domination of Greece might have changed the whole trajectory of human history. It is also worth mentioning that the celebrated blossoming of hugely influential Athenian culture occurred only after the Persian wars were won.

I’d like to see one on the fall of the Ceaucescus in Romania.

One week, he is giving a speech in front of the military on TV and loses the audience.

Next week he is lined up against the wall and shot.

I didn't see either 300.

But I'd want a real movie about it, not a 300 movie. More of a Master and Commander movie.

Taiping Rebellion

The bloodiest civil war in history, fought in China 1850-64 and led by a man claiming to be Jesus Christ's brother. At least 20 million people were killed -- some sources claim 100 million.

Unless the ships get right next to each other for boarding like in pirate movies, naval battles aren't cinematic

Neither are sieges, which is one reason there's never been a great Alamo movie
