What has happened to Jeff Bridges?

His speaking pattern is getting worse. He's always had this to some degree but I recently saw him in Hell or High Water and it's like somebody poured a couple of tablespoons of water under his tongue and asked him not to spill a drop while he talks.
Very annoying.

It was a bit annoying in True Grit. Sounded like he had a bunch of marbles in his mouth.

Ever since he won the Oscar for playing that drunkard in Crazy Heart it's like he has tried to recreate that character in every movie he's in.

He sounds like it in interviews too. Which is kind of weird, because he sounded like The Dude in interviews after Big Lebowski came out.
I don't think actors who grow up in Hollywood have real accents of their own. Just look at Leo.

He was also reprising a character he had already played in the 80s.
It would have been really strange to start portraying him as a drunkard.

I think he's become a slightly watered down Hunter Thompson. At least, that's what I'm seeing in the interviews he does.

He is the Aviator in The Little Prince, new to Netflix. Great movie by the way. He sounds ok there, but easy to recognize.
