What exactly was the beef between Will Smith and the first Aunt Vivian?

Watched the reunion special on HBO Max and during their one on one talk, I still didn't get what the beef was about? Apparently, Will wasn't the only one from the cast outcasted her? I don't know.

During season 3, she really was pregnant, but NBC only gave her 2 months work and that's it? Also, they wouldn't allow her to work anywhere else? What's the deal with that?

What I got from the reunion is that Will gave her the cold shoulder on her last season and went in the press that she was difficult to work with essentially black balling her in hollywood. She claimed her actions were due to family problems at home. I thought before the reunion that she accused Will of sexual harassment.

Will getting accused of sexual harassment by a female is a laugh to me considering stories I’ve heard.

Main one is that his first marriage broke up because his wife walked in on Big Willie taking it up the arse from his Motown mentor.

From what I've read she was like Harriet on Family Matters and thought she was supposed to be a star then got pissy when nobody cared

In the reunion they said they had differences of opinion and Will was the star so they sided with him. And he admitted that he didn’t understand what she was going through back then but NIA that he was older he did. And she said that when he called her “difficult to work with” that he was the death knell for her career as a black woman in Hollywood.

The reunion was great IMO.

And I’ve also never seen or heard the Motown thing. Hahaa. Yikes. But I thought it was Quincy Jones that approached him about the show? What Motown mentor is that supposed to be referring to?

“Motown” may be incorrect but it was Benny Medina, who was an executive producer on Fresh Prince.

The “Motown” association may be due to him being linked to Kerry Gordy, Barry Gordy’s son, who he met in college.

I bet I'm one of the few people that can rap the entire intro song (the extended version, not the one you usually see when it's on TV).

And I always thought Ross Bagley was related to Will Smith (I remember hearing back then that it was his nephew or something like that, and he got him onto the show and into ID4). But apparently that's not true based on my quick research now.

She had issues at home, the producers of the show offered her a limited contract saying she couldn't work anywhere else, she refused it, she got fired. Will said in interviews she was fired because she was hard to work with. Will said he felt threatened.

Watch the reunion.

It's hard to believe she was on for literally half of the show's run...seems like it was only the first season or two. But she was there for three full seasons, and the new mom was the last three.

I thought the beef was her contract was up and Will didnt back her when she was negotiating basically they in her opinion low balled her while she was trying to negotiate and Will Smith didnt vouche(not sure if it was from indifference about being involved with contract issues or not offering his recommendation) which lead to a recast and then after the fact he labeled her difficult in the press and unofficially ended her career.
