Lost
The Wire
Breaking Bad
Friday Night Lights
24
Mad Men
Game of Thrones

Then throw in some critically acclaimed comedies:

The Office
My name is Earl
Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Friday Night Lights debuted 20 years ago this month. I remember how good TV was back then.

What happened? Did streaming kill episodic TV? I don’t think my tastes have changed. I still want quality shows yet I don’t see them being made or even green lit.

Don’t forget the last 3 seasons of The Sopranos.

You're just not watching the right stiff. There has been boatloads of good television since 2012. More good television than ever really with almost all top movie stars now doing television because it's not viewed as a lesser standard anymore. Just since 2012 off the top of my head...

Chernobyl
The Leftovers
True Detective S1-3
Black Sails
Fargo
The Gentlemen
Severence
Slow Horses
Shogun
Widows Bay
Peaky Blinders
Mr. Robot
Succession
Shrinking
The Rehearsal
Euphoria
The White Lotus
The Jinx
The Newsroom
The Knick
Barry
Banshee
Veep
Vice Principles
The Studio
Mythic Quest
Vikings
Westworld S1-2
Squid Games
Fargo
Dark
Nobody Wants This
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Dark Matter
Drops of God
Black bird
Pluribus
The Expanse
The Crown
Stranger THings
Fallout
The Boys
Killing Eve
The Bear
The Queens Gambit
Fleabag
Outlander

Probably forgetting tons but there is a plethora of great television out there.

We are in a silver age of television right now, but our shared culture no longer exists like it did even 20 years ago so most people don’t realize it
