Just because something is more iconic doesn't mean its better.

Conversely it does not mean it is worse either. It simply means it is more recognizable which actually would mean better IMO in terms of mass appeal and marketing a film.

Even before the movies I have to wonder if they really are more iconic. Batman and superman are. Of course ill give you that, but are the others more iconic than hulk, cap, or iron man? I'm really not sure.

Wonder Woman is the only other true icon in the sense she's known the world over and signaled a culture shift. I saw this you tube video while looking at Justice League fan trailers and was impressed by the editing. Wonder Woman could be an epic mix of breathtaking beauty, 300, Clash of the Titans and lots of U.S. military action.

If this movie doesn't have Darkseid, it is a fail

I wonder if Bale would risk his batman rep in this movie? Who else could they get?

And how is arguably the most powerful superhero (Superman) in the comic book realm boring? The dude can practically destroy almost anything.

That is precisely what makes him boring. Good stories stem from suspense and conflict. Why would I worry about the consequences in his stories, when I know that he is stronger than anything he faces?

quote:

You guys serious? Green Lantern and Flash are far more creative and cooler characters than over half the characters in Avengers.

Not really. They have interesting powers, and cool universes, but as characters they are pretty boring.

There's really nothing creative or intriguing about those characters at all, unless you're a Marvel homer.

See, this is the big difference. Marvel characters don't necessarily have the most interesting powers. But that doesn't matter, because they are more interesting characters. You have Tony Stark, a guy who despite his amazing success, shows his insecurities through being an alcoholic. The Hulk has pretty generic powers, but what makes him interesting is that those powers stem from deep rooted rage; towards those hunting him, towards his situation, and towards himself for being so destructive. Even Cap, has to deal with a changing world, and has to find a place in a society which has dramatically changed its ideals from his own time.

The Flash and Green Lantern have the depth of a Flash Gordon serial. And Superman has even less. Although, you got to give to Batman. He is one of the best superheroes.

Batman and Superman alone beats the hell out of anything Marvel has ever had.

Yea, no one knows who Spiderman, Wolverine, The Hulk, and Iron Man are.

I mean granted, Superman and Batman are probably the most well known heroes, but the gap isn't nearly as big as you think.

Uh you're talking about Hal Jordan.

The green lantern they made gay is Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern. There is more than one green lantern you know?

ETA: they barely use Alan Scott at all in the comics so it's really not that important anyway. This will be old news very soon.

Grant Morrison was the best Superman writer, imo.

Marvel's characters are more interesting, though. Shows what a difference 20-30 years can make.
