Superman can be awesome if written well(just like anything). I'm anxious to see what Snyder and Nolan come up with. I like the Kryptonian storyline. You may not be old enough to know it but Superman and Superman II the movies were great and exciting films as a kid, that's where I get my imprint of Superman. I made my dad take me to the theater 3 times the first week it opened and the I got the Soundtrack (Album believe it or not) and spent hours running around with a cape on. Let's hope they succeed and re-create him for a new generation.

You can't just hire a writer for the movie....there needs to be a very coordinated plan.
If they're almost done filming Supes without said plan, there's very little they can do WITHOUT having a single standalone film.
Which would bomb given the amount of origin and backstory it would have to tell.
Some would argue that the individual Justice League members are way more iconic and well known and wouldn't have to have stand alone's to setup the main JL movie.
I say that's bullshite. You want to put out an individual movie for some of these characters first so the public can make the connection with the hero.
Superman is covered. Even if it doesn't have a Samuel Jackson tag on scene post credits, it'll still be enough.
Batman obviously doesn't NEED a stand alone movie as much but it wouldn't hurt since it'll be the rebooted Batman and not the Bale/Nolan one that the general public is familiar with. And to those that keep thinking Bale will do it, just stop.. Not going to happen.
Green Lanterns movie, while not the greatest, served the purpose it needed to. Despite the movie underachieving financially for WB, indications are they will most likely put out a sequel. That's a good idea as the sequel could include that scene to tie together the JL universe.
Then you have Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman and whomever else they choose. I say use Cyborg instead of Martian Manhunter.
Flash obviously should get a movie, Wonder Woman and Aquaman probably won't but you can get away with that I guess. Cyborg can make his first appearance in the JL movie and would be a good choice for the everyman character for the audience to connect to. Kinda like he's supposed to be currently in the books.
That all being said. I don't think this gets done right at all and I wish they would just leave it alone although there's really no way they can with how well Avengers did.

I disagree, I mean, Besides batman the heroes are kind of weak. Green lantern isn't interesting, flash is okay, but nothing special, Superman is too perfect. I just don't see it working near as well as the Avengers.

Batman is maybe the best superhero, and then after him it is total shite. Sorry, Superman is shitty. What a boring character. Then the Flash, and Green Lantern?
I'll take Iron Man, the Hulk, Cap, Thor, and Hawkeye any day.
You guys serious? Green Lantern and Flash are far more creative and cooler characters than over half the characters in Avengers. In fact, other than Iron Man (who seems more like a DC character), the rest of the Avengers are bland. I mean Hulk? Captain America? Hawkeye? Widow? There's really nothing creative or intriguing about those characters at all, unless you're a Marvel homer.
And how is arguably the most powerful superhero (Superman) in the comic book realm boring? The dude can practically destroy almost anything. Who wouldn't want to have those powers? I mean, was Ricardo Lopez a boring boxer because he never lost a fight? I'll concede that the vast majority of the Superman movies have sucked, but most of his graphic novels are sick! You can't judge a comic book character like Superman, solely based on a soap opera-esque movie alone.

Wait a second.....Hulk is bland? A guy who turns into a big green monster, hurls and breaks every fricking thing and then turns back into a super genius scientist is bland?
A guy who got roided up to fight Hitler and Nazis in WW2 is boring? He also supposedly died, and then was found frozen. Then he came back to life to fight crime in the present. How is this bland to you?

1) The hulk is just every guy you see in an affliction shirt nowadays. Bland.
2) CA is kind of irrelevant in todays world. Theres no Nazis and half the shite he stands for is frowned upon nowadays. Bland.

just the way it is
I'd love a JL movie if it somewhat leaned toward the Dark Knight Returns series
if you've read the book, you know what I mean....I hope

If WB wants to make a Justice League movie, they need to plan it out over the next decade. Don't just jump into it because the Avengers did so well.
If they want to make an iconic team-up movie that doesn't seem like a copy of the Avengers, Batman vs. Superman is the way to go. Their origins are known and they are all the audience would care about anyway in the team-up movie.
The problems are A) Would incorporating Superman screw up what is planned for the current Superman franchise B) Are both franchises worth more if left to being relegated to their own universes? Meaning is the future Batman, who would be included in the team-up, be better off in a world that doesn't involve aliens and superpowers?
If they do a Superman/Batman movie, they should go the World's Finest route. World's Finest trailer

You can't kill him, he's faster/stronger/ more unstopable then every other superhero around. If you took every Super hero vs. Superman, take out Kryptonite and Superman would win.

Also, if done right, Superman is an excellent character. Superman material has basically been stripped mined, but I still think there are some potential storylines they haven't touched. As I've said before, grounded Superman in as much reality as possible, it would be really interesting.
In every movie, Superman is just universally celebrated by everyone. Would the world be able to truly accept a man who could almost solve every one of our problems? Many of the "fires" he would put out are the same fires that keep people in power and make others wealthy. Would people get spoiled and hold it against Superman for not solving every crisis...even if they happen at the same time? Make the narrative less about the Man of Steel and more about how the world accepts/rejects him. Then have Lex Luthor develop into a symptom of that rejection. Everyone says Superman is boring because he is so powerful. Well, make his power the issue and have the reaction to it become a theme that drives the movie.
When approaching Batman, Nolan asked the question about how would a city react if a man dressed as a bat jumped from rooftop to rooftop fighting crime? I think you can apply that same reasoning to Superman but on global scale. How would today's world react to an invincible savior?

You answered your own question. He's too powerful and perfect. Its too hard to create credible perils for him and he lacks the inner conflict of most Marvel and other DC characters.
Superman has always been about wish fulfillment as evidenced by your last sentence.

This problem is being tackled, quite effectively, in the current run of Action Comics. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a Man of Steel with a little personality in the new movie next year.

I disagree. Batman is my favorite character and like the Flash, but I find Marvel characters to be more interesting, well rounded, and better developed.

The Flash is the most underrated superhero today. He could hang with Superman.

DC probably has the most iconic and well known comic book characters the world has ever or will ever see. Batman and Superman alone beats the hell out of anything Marvel has ever had. Everyone knows who Wonder Woman is, most people have heard of Aquaman, and I'm sure most people have heard of the Green Lantern and the Flash as well. Spider-Man and the X-Men are basically the two most popular Marvel universes and Marvel Studios doesn't even own the movie rights to them.
