From 2003-2005. Doesn't have the longevity of the all-time greats but he was on fire during that time. Old School, DodgeBall, and Wedding Crashers are certified classics and Starsky & Hutch is one of the best comedies of the last 20 years that didn't come with an R-rating. Wes Mantooth was a great villain for Ron Burgundy and helped secure Anchorman as one of the comedy gems of the 2000's.

Old School

Starsky & Hutch

DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Wedding Crashers

The '00s Mt. Rushmore of comedy is Ferrell, Chappelle, Vaughn, and Stiller...probably in that order.

At his peak, I'd see anything he was in, but he always needed someone to riff off of. That's when he shined. His early stuff with Favreau can't be overlooked, either,

Swingers and especially Made are great.

Couldn't agree with you more, and Wedding Crashers is the apex of his peak. Every single line he has is funny. He's at the top of his bullshite comedy game in it.

Just in the interest of thoroughness, I think his small cameo/bit part in 2005's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is worth a mention, as well as his starring role in 2006's "The Break Up" - which, although a more serious movie than the other mentions, still features a lot of him stealing scenes with his comedic prowess.

His filmography becomes extremely hit or miss after that, but I think "Four Christmases," "Couples Retreat," "The Watch," The Internship," and "Fighting With My Family" are all underrated comedies that are definitely worth a watch if you're a Vince Vaughn fan.

Wedding Crashers

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

The Break Up

Four Christmases

Couples Retreat

The Watch

The Internship

Fighting With My Family

He and Aniston in The Break Up are totally underrated. Painful to watch that couple fall apart but a great film.

This one really gets lost in the shuffle when people talk about 2000s comedies, but it's as good as any of the Frat Pack movies. VV always slays me in this scene:

One of the only “chick flicks” I’m always allowed to put on. He’s funny in it. And the fights are so real

Imagine if Vince Vaughn and Jeremy Piven were in the same movie, in the same scene.

Irresistible force v. Immovable object

Captain America v. Iron Man?

Ruth v. Mantle

Would both of their heads explode as they tried to out riff each other? Or would everyone in the room just die?

Ferrell depended on the others too much when he was a lead. He was and is much more palatable as a supporting character because he plays the same guy in every movie. Stiller, Vaughn, and Owen Wilson were all clearly better than him. Chappelle was great at stand up in the 2000s, but he wasn’t really a movie guy then. Chappelle Show was an amazing but brief peak in tv though. Lewis Black was another amazing stand up in the 2000s who only made spot appearances in movies as well.

God damn.

I'm not retarded, just a little slow.

Well, I guess where they are both doing their thing.

Adam Sandler was a good roll until You Don't Mess with the Zohan came along and it's been a drop off since.

Still the worst movie I've ever watch in a movie theater.

I agree with you there. A lot of comedies coming out now are trying to be more absurd than funny. There's no delivery of the jokes. It's all a race to see how far they can go to get a laugh.

Mostly because outside of Sandler, no one gets decently sized budgets for comedies. They are all on shoestring budgets if they get greenlit at all. The one area super hero/tent poles have effected the most is the comedy area

And to think he was in Psycho. Domestic Distubance was also right before those comedies. Pretty good range.
