Double post.

I watched Amadaus for this list and really liked it. But was disappointed when I read up on it and found out Wolfgang's "nemesis" was a guy that barely even knew him. He wasn't even envious of him, he just finished some of his work after he died.

I recently watched that one too. That doesn't really take away from the film at all. Salvatore was a more interesting/sympathetic character than Mozart anyway.

I apologize for my wording. I have seen all of them and really liked them either now or when I first saw them. I just didn't remember them when I was making my list. Some of them might have made my original list of 60.

Absence of Malice-Paul Newman media/crime drama where he's a relative to mafia people & Sally Field is a conflicted newspaper reporter/love interest. Really good plot with twists.

Cops, DA's, good guys and bad guys aren't being completely honest. Harmful stories are published, relationships get rocky & everything becomes muddled. Has a great closing scene with Wilford Brimley as a Federal Marshall with a pocket full of subpenas.

I've got a journalism degree and have worked for a couple of newspapers. Right up there with All the Presidents men for people of that ilk.

John Heard plays a better bitter f'ed up handicapped veteran than Cruise & Dafoe in BOTFOJ and Sinise in FG.

Hammett is probably the weakest of the bunch but I'm a Dashiell Hammett fan as well as a fan of director Wim Wenders(Paris,Texas is in my top 20) and I just like the whole noir mise-en-scene of it.

Plus I actually came up with my constant cough handle after watching it.
