For example, as someone born in 1990 - forgotten early 2000s comedies like The New Guy or Kung Fu Hustle are still my absolute favorites but are long forgotten. But they were also released at a formative time of my life.

Palm Springs

I enjoyed Timeline also, but it was an abysmal adaptation of the book. Michael Crichton hated it so much he asked that his name be removed from all marketing efforts.

Crichton had some idea of what he was talking about given that he was more than just a novelist, but also a screenwriter and director (Coma, the original Westworld).

My favorite underrated movie is The Freshman. It's one of the movies that I will always watch when it's on.

Never even heard of this movie wtf, but anything DJ Qualls is in, I’ll watch.

A truly great comedy that almost no one knows about today.

This seems to get forgotten when it comes to James Cameron’s work, and among action movies.

ETA: I feel like this thread is having a hard time striking a balance between underrated and unknown/obscure.
