For the life of me I cannot fathom how anybody but super-sanctimonious liberal art fricks could bear to stick with this show (and those of you who know me realize I'm not exactly a rabid right-winger)

I wanted to like it SO BAD. I talked myself into liking Goodman's character and the Indian Chief's character but they are as unbearable as the rest. (By the way - how fricking bad is this show if I've watched all 8 episodes and only know the names of 2 characters in it?)

There is not ONE likeable character on this series. I want to punch every one of these whiny, dependant, pretentious, liberal fricks in the mouth. And then do it again.

But I will still watch the show I guess. I don't know why - New Orleans guilt maybe?

I like the gold toothed cabby that always hooks up the fat black guy with rides.

This.

I will keep watching it just because it's in New Orleans and I like seeing and hearing all the things I recognize. It moves way too slow and the characters are pretty annoying, but I have nothing else to do on Sunday.

I don't think its the liberals that are into it. It is the people of Louisiana giving it the best shot of staying on TV. I talk to my west coast friends all the time and they gave up on this show after the first few episodes.

I worked on True Blood when it was out here. They mainly shoot in Los Angeles but every now and then comes and does a scene or two here.

Sadly, I gave up on it. It is just too slow.

Pretty much sums it up for me too.

I didn't make it past a couple episodes. Not even the awesome music could save it for me.

I don't think I've ever seen a show get topics started every week about how much it sucks. You'd think people would just change the channel or something.

Then you must not peruse the movie board very often.

Since episode one, people have been telling us that Simon writes masterful plots in a slow burn style.

They told us that it took 6 episodes for The Wire to catch fire.

Well, 8 episodes in and Treme is not a slow burn it is a smoldering mess.

Heck, Turkey Burger says it may take until season 2 for the show to really hit on all cylinders. Really? I need to wait for the second season for the show to get interesting?

I don't hate the show, but I don't love it either. I mainly watch just to see the city and to see if my old friend gets any more lines.

The compelling subject matter just isn't there. Drugs and crime are much more interesting than John Goodman ranting on youtube, an Indian chief wanting to reopen projects and a failed chef cooking out of a trailer.

If the show wasn't set in New Orleans I definitely would have stopped watching by now.

i wish they would have had a visions stripper character on there for a bit more nudity.

Should have also had a straight up gangsta thug charater

+100%

They have focused entirely too much on average joe.

They should have a corrupt politician story line and a criminal story line mixed in with the average joes. I can see they didn't want another Wire so they avoided the crime and cop element, but I am not sure it was the right thing to do since those make up so much of the actual drama in the city.
