It occurred to me that in the picture of the Cajun Mardi Gras, only 4 of the horsemen wear the pointed hats. The 5th has a shaggy headdress. It may resolve how the Cthulhu description of the octopus headed cephalopod yellow king can be depicted.
I'll bet the yellow king is going to be a popular Mardi Gras costume/theme this year. We'll definitely need some photo documentation.

Other symbolic observations:
Dora/Dori is a greek name meaning “gift”
Doire is the Celtic word for an oak tree. (Oaks are sacred to the Celts.) Dora gets sacrificed and placed in a praying position in front of an Oak tree. Also, Lange is probably an anagram for Angel.
Spirals are the most prolific Celtic symbol of rebirth and also the path leading from outer consciousness to enlightenment. Antlers are a Celtic symbol of both male power, and also the recycling nature of all life.
Remember in Pastor Theriot’s sermon, when he said, “You are as blind to Him as your footprints in the ashes?” In Greek mythology, the phoenix is a bird that lives forever. When it dies, it bursts into flame and is reborn from its own ashes. Because of this, the phoenix is a symbol of eternal life, rebirth, transformation through fire, and healing.
So where is this going?
During a sugar cane harvest, they pre-burn the field to get rid of the “trash”. (It typically occurs around November.) The burn-off cleanses and enriches the soil, and prepares the field for the next planting. This is the same symbolism of nature recycling from death back to rebirth.
In the intro scene, you hear the hoot of an owl and then the field is lit on fire. Owls are considered evil in mythology and the hoot of an owl presages death. The burning of the field is the recycling – death followed by rebirth. So, basically, they all live (and die) happily ever after… again and again and again…
Of course, the symbolic side is kind of boring. We are all waiting for the spaghetti monster. Did anyone see Marty eating spaghetti? (No, it's not him.)

I've been reading all of these threads. I do think Marty's daughter has been involved in this cult/pedo ring, probably through the grandpa. I was watching some clips and noticed that there is a picture on the girls' room door (with the bright red mouth), which looks like the same images that Rust found on the walls of the abandoned school.
Go to the .20 mark of the video. LINK
This has probably been mentioned before, given the amount of posts on this series.

I don't know the reason for the type of wounds, except that the young children are their angels and they are probably molested and tortured. It looks like the older girls may become sex slaves or even impregnated (see the Episode 7 release).
Later on, Audrey's room has a red-winged blackbird (male) on her door. Blackbirds are feisty in that they will defend their nests aggressively. Owls, of course, win that battle.

Very interesting one…that is the white 1963 Ford truck that was mentioned by Fukunaga and it was the Lawn Guy's truck seen in episode 3 at the school. this appears to be a cemetery scene.

It looks like they are getting to the Voodoo / superstition / sacrificial phase of the story.

Here's an awesome interview with Nic Pizzolatto from Entertainment Weekly:
LINK
I put it in here because there are some mild episode 7 spoilers that basically say that Maggie has done a great job raising the girls since her split with Marty, which may make people second guess one of the girls is involved in that video

just because Maggie has done a great job raising them since they split doesn't mean one of them wasn't harmed as a young girl. not saying for sure that happened but the pictures she drew were too specific in my book

What similarities do the daughters share with any of the other victims? I can't think of any which is why I don't think they have anything to do with the case.

Nice article. so he mentions there is a scene in episode 8 where Marty and Rust talk about Maggie in their "last car ride" scene together. hmmmm

I agree…not much evidence other than her very disturbing and specific drawings as a young girl, her arrangement of the dolls and of course her erratic behavior as a high schooler.
I think it is a possibility she was abused as a kid but not a certainty and I agree that neither Maggie or the kids are "involved int eh case" that would be so dumb

Well if you read reddit you know the ending is out there...at least in Broad strokes. What we know:
Errol is the killer
Marty and Rust are alive at the end and Errol is dead after Cohle and Errol fight "to the death" and Marty blasts Errol in the head to put an end to it. Apparently ERrol has a labrynth like maze of caves near his house that are "Carcosa" and he leads Rust through there. Apparently Rust is badly hurt at the end but he survives thanks to Marty. No idea if any of the other bad guys are still alive or if any of the cult stuff with the tuttles/senator gets out to the public. Cant wait to see how it unfolds
Not a lot of additional details

I am dissapointed that the ending doesnt seem to display any of the details of the cult or the issues with Audrey.
