Thanks for the clarification..was wondering about that scene.
A few thoughts:
This episode did a really good job of explaining the origin of Rust's 1995 character...anticipating they'll eventually do the same for Rust's 2012 character
Really loving the depth of the characters and the pace in which such depths are illustrated
Looking really forward to leaning more about the modern day Rust and potentially seeing him take an active role in the present day case
Also kindof curious if we'll see some interaction between modern day Rust and modern day Marty
Eta: the cinematography is amazing..the skies, horizon, natural landscapes, lack of artificial lights..very well done...the storyteller's vision is beautiful and he's doing a phenomenal job of illustrating it

What about the framed photo of the victim at Cajun Mardi Gras the camera focused in on twice? Think there is any meaning there?

I feel like it means something but I can't for the life of me figure out what

Where can I find a good set of handcuffs?

My point is that the whole titty thing works with the show. It isn't just gratutious.

I can't remember the last time i was ever this excited for a show. I can't wait to see where it goes.
Probably Lost for me.
Although Breaking Bad was always exciting to watch. Although it was different....hard to explain, but different.

I like the pace the of it. Really makes you appreciate great character development and background

Exactly. Fun enough, I can remember a few people being pissed at the pace the pilot had.

Anyone think Martin might have done the second killing?
Posted on 1/20/14 at 8:20 pm to Bayou Sam
Nah. I don't think it's Cohle or Martin.

Question for anyone. I just watched the 2nd episode. Loved it. Never saw the first. Should I go back and watch the first, or am I good just going here forward.

Just re-watched the scene with the Dolls...
As Marty is walking down hallway you can hear the girls say the following -
Sister 1 - "You don't have a mommy or daddy anymore. Yours just died in an accident."
Sister 2 - "How?"
Sister 1 - "In a car accident..."
Marty walks in and sees how his work affects his family and that his daughters are simulating life/death games.
Very next scene is Rust talking about how sometimes he is grateful for the way his daughter died and was spared the sorrow of life (growing up.)
Very well done...
I remember they had the girl doll naked laying on the ground with one guy in front and some more standing behind. From what you wrote it makes me want to think of the girl doll being an orphan having to sell herself because she's got no one to look after her, kinda like that girl at the bunny ranch.

Seriously though, they were both awesome, but the 2nd was a little better.
