Wow, so one movie 50 years ago? That's a pretty freaking good track record for "critics" if you asked me.

Looking forward to True Detectives and The Brink. Will pass on Ballers.

Actually, the two reviews I've read (NY Times and another I don't remember at the moment) both said the new True Detective was good, but just not as good as the first season. IMO, that's to be expected.

did either mention how many episodes they were able to watch for the review?

For me it was the 4th episode in season 1 and the amazing tracking shot near the end that really put the show over the top as must watch during its first tv airing.

Yes. That one example is only movie in the history of mankind that was reevaluated by critics.

The dynamic between MM and woody was the perfect storm for season 1...plus you had the unreliable narrator angle with their conflicting interviews with the cops that made for an intriguing beginning until ep 5.

Overall though it was the performance by MM that just put it over the top.

They won't top it because these new actors aren't as good...but it can still be pretty good. I'll give it a chance.

Wait... Vox wrote that?

That is one of the worst websites ever. A site full of so called smart people explaining hot topics to the common man.
It's really just a site full of pretentious liberal assholes with no common sense.

Will definitely be watching Ballers and True Detective even if they might suck.

Vox is not a legitimate source of information or opinion on any subject. That's like posting a Bleacher Report article that says Nick Saban sucks at coaching.
