Except that the character was retconned for modern sensitivities in the 2000s.
Most of the “woke” stuff that is “source material” was because Marvel was in the pits in the late 90s and early 00s when they brought in a bunch of people in that wore the source material like skin suits.
That being said, SLJ did a great job.

They started doing these side shows like agents of shield and Carter and the likes way back with the first phase.
Thankfully I havnt had to really watch those to really understand what’s happening in the movies but it might be starting to catch up to the MCU. It’s becomes such a cluster of really bad and boring unnecessary shows that I’ve become uninterested.
