I can't stand Sandra Bullock, but it's Cuaron, so I'll see it.

I read that Natalie Portman was offered the role but had to turn it down. I think she would have been a safer choice.

I too am lukewarm to Sandra Bullock being in this movie. It just doesn't seem like a good fit, but who knows.

However, I trust the director. He directed Children of Men, Pan's Labyrinth, and the 3rd Harry Potter movie. All very good movies.

Pan's Labyrinth,

Nope, that was Guillermo Del Toro. I can see how people get them confused a lot though.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is also an excellent, excellent film. I trust Cuauron.

I do not like the casting AT ALL...but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Ah, my bad. Cuaron was a producer for that one.

So did Angelina Jolie. And Robert Downey Jr turned down the male lead. Apparently getting this movie going was a huge challenge.

Gravity looks pretty dumb to me.
Um, yea. . . I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that. After watching Children of Men yesterday (not for the first time), I re-watched the trailer for Gravity, and now I can't fricking wait to see it! It's crazy to think that this is Cuaron's first film since CoM.

A quote from an article I read today:
quote:

According to Guillermo del Toro, Cuarón and his collaborators (including Children of Men cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki) consulted filmmakers like David Fincher and James Cameron for help with their plans, because they were “so insane,” and Cameron said “look, you’re about five years into the future … it’s too early to try anything like that.” Yet Del Toro says they pulled it off.

Naturally. He wouldn't want to be the lead character in a serious, adult film that has a chance of actually being good.
